Both my daughters are into dance, and have taken lessons for years at a local dance studio. My wife started taking tap last year, and I finally gave in and got into a tap class this summer. Even though I prefer hiphop/bboy, tap has been really fun. I see it as a really fun way to cross train.

How fun! I always wanted to learn tap dance and hip hop. One of these days. I think dance is great for cross training.

I have to admit that title got my attention. WAY BACK IN THE DAY I used to be a swing dancer here in Chicago, I don't know if you ever got onto our discussion board Windyhop or not. It's been a long, long time. Most of my swing dance friends have coupled up, had kids, and don't dance as often as they once did. That's me too I'm afraid. I've got two little boys that don't leave their mom and I much time for dancing, but we still make it out every so often. Its funny because it seems both our boys love to shake it on the dance floor! Must be genetic. I checked on a couple of your videos, NICE FOLLOWING. Takes me back. Good for you for keeping up with dancing. Seems I've trading dance for running. I sent you a friend request.

I'm a dancer :) Ballet/modern. I decided to get a degree in something other than dance, so gained a lot of weight in my junior and senior year of college. I was invited to go to Russia for a dance festival last year, so I started running to drop the weight. I hated it when I started, would only use the treadmill and had a big phobia of running because I'd always been taught that dancers shouldn't run. I wish I'd have been running as a younger dancer. It's done wonders for my strength and endurance as a dancer. I started competing in physique shows last year, so I try to run 2x a day when I'm prepping for a contest. It's made my knees a lot stronger.

I'm a Zumba instructor so I move my body in dancy-ways. I wouldn't consider myself a dancer though... it'd be an insult to the art form!

the only time a man should dance is if another man is shooting at his feet.

I pole dance (pole dance doesn't equal stripping...think: clothes on, in a dance studio). I rather enjoy it; it's a unique challenge. And it's an absolutely incredible strength workout (Hanging upside down by one ankle, ten feet in the air? YES!). I liked being able to get into it right away and feel like there were specific movements I could do--and be creative with. I guess I stick with it partly because as I advance, the movements I'm able to perform just keep getting more awesome. 2.5 years into pole dancing, it's still challenging, fun, and a difficult workout that makes me sweat.

I'm an actress, so dancing is a huge part of my life! I do musical theatre and am usually in dance class 4-6 hours a week. As a new runner, I'm finding it a little difficult to balance both, because when I'm sore from one, it makes it so much harder to do the other. Any tips?
I haven't gone swing dancing in years, but used to do it often and loved it!
