Looking for virtual training partners

posted about 2 years ago | Report

Just joined the site but been running for a long time. Would like to "friend up" with other masters (40+ year old) guys out there to follow training and to push or pull me. Recent races around 38 10k and 1:25 half but whether you're faster or slower, if you're a geezer like me and out there everyday, I'd like to follow your training.

I'm at: http://www.dailymile.com/people/haulinaspirin#ref=tophd

  • Welcome Mark, you have come to the right sight for motivation and sharing of the pain. I am currently training for my first triathlon race in May at the tender age of 50! Look forward to following your training!

  • Hi Mark,
I'm looking for training partners too. I'm in a much smaller town and can rarely meet up with the folks near my pace and goals. I'm a little slower than you at 40 in the 10k and 90 in the half, but I've made a big improvement this past year and plan to continue. No way have I been recording runs since 1980, yikes; I've spent today on this site and a few hours with Brooks ID plan. I'm here http://www.dailymile.com/people/dacollins#ref=tophd and my club is http://www.southcoastrunningclub.com/id2.htm
    Happy New Year, Anthony

  • Mark, I look forward to following your progress. Be glad to help push, but it looks like you have no trouble with motivation. Good idea.

I have one 10K at 39:33 and one 1/2 at 1:27 and last marathon was 3:13. Still looking for my first Marathon < 3:10 and have a fantasy about a < 3:00 Marathon before my age catches up with me. At 48, I feel I can can still get a bit faster.

  • Hello Mark, just turned 42. My running is getting better. I picked it up after a 20 year volleyball career. Two back surgeries ended v-ball for me. All you guys at 40+ amaze me with your times. I want a 1:30 half and 3:30 marathon. My challenge is to stay healthy through an extended period. It will be great to exchange experiences.
