Trust your training?

As I wake up with my wife in UAB hospital after she had emergency surgery early Wednesday morning. Under the influence of morphine she has told doctors and nurses they have to finish with her by Friday so she can go to the Vulcan run with me on Saturday.

We will see. I only missed one last workout so I am good to go. Hospitals don't sleep that great but she is going to be fine and that is far more important than a race.

I may have to miss seeing you fine Birmingham runners on Saturday.

  • Just like earlier in the year when my wife had surgery I did my best for a week or so to take good care of her. Love is unconditional. In her emergency situation to not run, and sleep in the hospital only tells me how much you love her. I'm sure she feels the same way about you too. You may have to miss, but God is a big God, and if so there's always next time. Thanks for the post, and have Grrrreat-Weekend. God Bless "You & Your-Family" is my Dailymile-Prayer...+

PS. Sometimes inspiration comes, but it's not always a great workout, or a great training run, ride, or swim that inspires people. This truly inspired me.

  • It actually got a little odd today. Several of the doctors and nurses here are going to run. The hospital is only about 10 or 11 blocks from the start and finish lines. By Saturday she should be allowed out to walk and the course runs right by the hospital. We will see. This chair doesn't sleep that good but I wouldn't be anywhere else. The three of us will make a decision late tomorrow.

Thanks for the prayer Jimmy. My family has been held together by prayers from strangers more than once. Someday I'll share it with you.
