Anyone Running Ragnar Miami to Key West?

I have never run it & looking for advice on what to bring & how to prep.

  • Hi Shannon! I ran it last year. Be sure to bring a jacket and sweat pants, it gets cold in the Everglades at night. Bring a towel to sit on in between your runs and sandals to get your feet out of your running shoes for a bit. Bring three running outfits, packed in ziploc bags. This will make it easier for you to find what you need when it's time to change without rooting through your bag, and then you can put your stinky stuff back in it when you're done to keep the funk in the van to a minimum. :-) Colgate Wisps are great for brushing your teeth without water. Make sure you bring chargers for your phone, ipod, etc. Be sure to bring TP, as the port-a-potties always run out. In addition to my gym bag, I bring a small drawstring bag to keep with me in the van with essentials (nutrition for my runs, lip balm, sunscreen, phone etc.) so that I only have to get in the back of the van when it's time to change. Bring a water bottle, as some legs are non-supported, along with a spibelt, or something to carry your phone in case you get lost (but really, there will always be other runners around, getting lost is not likely). It's also a good idea to bring cash for chipping in on gas and food, and to make it easier and quicker at group dinners instead of the restaurant having to run a bunch of cards. We usually have for the van, a cooler for water, and a separate cooler for food. Bug spray, tarps to spread out to sit/lay on, GPS, lights/decorations for the van. Noisemakers are great, as it is always fun to cheer everyone on, and also to signal when you see your runner coming to an exchange (they will be very crowded with over 500 teams). Hope this helps! Have fun!! What team are you? I am Who Fartlek'd. Maybe I'll see you there! Cathy
