I have the timex ironman 30 lap watch and it does everything I need. I poured over countless reviews of gps watches only to get discouraged and decided to go cheap and easy. I map my routes using the DM mapper to get my distance and the watch gives me my time. I know I dont have pace time but the splits feature is nice to use when doing out and back routes to see if I ran one way faster than the other or for doing track work. Also in races I just pay attention to the mile markers and look at my watch to get an idea of my pace.
My only problem I have had is if I record several split times and go to reset the watch after my run it sometimes just keeps cycling through the times instead of resetting because it uses the same button. I think its a glitch.

Visit your local Target, they have good prices on Timex watches and usually a pretty good selection to choose from. Checking on line it looks like Target beats the price for the watch you linked to by abut $15. By looking in person you will get a feel for the watch and see how it fits and how you like the button placement. For my "naked" runs I use a Timex 100-Lap IronMan with Flix (~$50).

just bought the soleus GPS 1.0.. after getting over my lust for the expensive GPS watches but being sick of mapping my route every day, I found the soleus as a bestseller at Running Warehouse ($99). Check out DC Rainmaker's reviews. His are by far the most comprehensive out there.

If you want a GPS watch the Garmin 110 is going cheap these days and it looks like it does a good job. I have the 210 which is essentially the same watch with a few more features, but I don't really need the extras. In the UK, you can get the 110 for about £100.

I have the Garmin 110. I love it. Pace, Distance and time are displayed at once. There is a heart rate monitor option with this watch. It is the simplest Garmin watch available. I love it, easy to use. Simple.

I think you'd be really happy with the Ironman. I have an Ironman 30-lap and one of the better Ironman HBM watch with basically the same features and have really loved both of them!
Someday a GPS would be nice, but mapping routes online works fine for most purposes :-)answered 10 months ago |Report

At this point you probably already bought a watch but besides these good suggestions the best alternative to the Ironman 10 Lap is Soleus Running Chicked or Dash which comes with laps and interval timers and are only $55. You can check them out at our site where you get free shipping http://www.givenbrand.com/Soleus-Shop-By-Brand/b/6207758011?ie=UTF8&title=Soleus or at the Soleus Running main site http://www.soleusrunning.com/.

Most people would recommend Garmin, it has more features but not everyone needs them. If that is over your budget that I think you will be happy with the Timex Ironman watch.
