What type of training should I do

asked 4 months ago | Report

I have run an odyssey race for the past 3 years. This race is a 12 man 178 mile race. Every year I end up running about a 10min mile each time it is my turn to run. I want to break the 10 minute mile this year. Also I want to train to run more miles this year. Is it better to run at a slower pace and run longer most days of the week and fast short runs once a week, or is it better to run faster and shorter distances most days and only long runs once a week?

  • Slower and longer most days of the week. You are training for an event that is almost 100% aerobic, and this type of training is most specific to that. Your first priority is weekly mileage, followed by weekly tempo runs.
