Ok ladies, I need your help

asked 7 months ago | Report

I just ran my first half marathon, and plan on training for my a full in the spring. My issue is....well...my nipples. Very irritated, and have had a little scabbing. I read some of the men's posts about body glide and vaceline...but does this cut it for a C cup? Do I need a tighter fitting sports bra? Or will have to wear bandaids every long run?

  • I had the same type of problem when I ran my first 1/2. I actually had chafing caused by the bottom band of my sports bra. Switched sports bras and added some body glide just in case. I use the Grace sports bra, which I was fitted for at my local running store. It fits super tight, so nothin' is moving! It also zips down the front (and locks) so it is easy to get out of when you're all sweaty.

  • I use the Under Armour sports bra...I am a D cup- it is amazing, no trouble with chaffing and everything is locked and loaded without feeling like you're wearing "armor". It's the one with the crossed straps in the back. It's also full coverage and it's thick enough so everything is fine when it's wet or cold:)

  • I found that the right bra and some body glide keeps the girls happy. A good bra will keep the movement minimal.

  • I have never had this problem. I always use form fitting jog bras - not unnaturally tight but snug enough that they keep the ladies from hitting me in the neck. I know because I once made the mistake of buying a cheap jog bra and my breast were just all over the place. Also you have to make sure that the material is breathable and comfortable. Sore nipples means your breast are rubbing on the fabric, which is not good. Under Armour and nike are awesome products, pricey but worth it. :)

  • After I gave birth to my littlest my cup size went from an A to a C - the Under Armour bra that has the straps that cross in the back were excellent and I had no problems when I'd run or participate in high impact fitness classes. I had to squeeze into them and sometimes I felt like a human sausage but they were really comfortable, very supportive and worked great.

  • I concur...some body glide and a good bra. I'm on the smaller side and love the Moving Comfort bras. They're snug and challenging to get in and out of but I've run multiple marathons and probably a dozen halfs with NO chafing (and no body glide).

  • I like the Nike or Lululemon sports bras they are snug enough to keep the girls from moving too much and both are good at keeping sweat at bay

  • I am a D and swear by Moving Comfort bras. I have never had an issue with the MC bras chafing, rubbing or otherwise bothering me. And NOTHING moves. ;) Body Glide can also be awesome.

  • I am a C Cup and I swear by my moving comfort bra. I have a couple other sports bras and the most important thing is the fit. Good sports bras are worth the money. Have your running store fit you for the bra.

  • I had to switch to super-tight sports bras. I'm usually a 34DD and I wear an underwire sports bra in a 32D. I get a little quadra-boob but no chaffing. I use body glide under my arms and around the band for good measure. ( I wear the Champion Power Back Bra. When they're on sale you can get them for $25.)
