I second this enhancement. I would prefer if the times were not rounded. It's not such a big deal on training runs, but for races, I'd like the times to be precise.

Thirded. Please stop rounding workout times please!

Fourth-ed! Rounding causes more confusion than the help it purports to supply. Please provide the accuracy as was input, else why bother asking for the seconds field to begin with.

Amen. This is really annoying. 30 seconds makes a difference! I hate seeing them do the same thing with distances, too. 3.1 miles is not 3 miles. :)

+1 on not rounding time and distances.

Yes! And if my input is 7,5 kilometers - I don´t want this to be 8. It´s a big difference!

I'm glad I'm not alone in my desire to have seconds displayed. This site seems useless without the seconds.

I did not see this until now. However, as I had posted previously - "sometimes" it gives me seconds. Seems like a bug, which may explain why it's taking so long for responses...posted almost 2 years ago

I've been tracking my miles this month and noticed that this rounding has me down for 98 miles while in reality I'm at 110 miles.
It doesn't make sense....the programming change to fix this is very simple....may have to look for another site to log my miles.

I really like the site and the service you provide. But, the rounding of times are pretty bothersome for me. I hate to see my 18:37 5k show up as 19 minutes. As a detail oriented runner, it's a little frustrating because a time of 18:31 would look the same as a 19:29.

This bothers me too, and is why I haven't bothered to use the new Garmin support. Garmin Connect keeps the exact times for everything, so I keep all my data there.

it doesn't quite bother me as much as i also use training center but it is annoying to have your time and distance roundedposted over 1 year ago

+1 -- I completely agree! We work hard for those times and every second (and millisecond) counts! Has anyone emailed DailyMile directly about this feature change/enhancement? If not, I sure will. :)

Agree! I'd rather see the exact times for my runs rather than a rounded time! I hate having to go into edit mode to check my exact time for a particular run.

+1... it also seems like the pace is calculated on base of the rounded time :-/

Yes! Rounding cheapens the log function.

Agree, please remove rounding. I know you store the numbers becasue when I edit an entry the origional mileage and time is there.

I would actually like to see Dailymile get more serious about data overall. It's nice currently and makes pretty graphs, but I would like the ability to create my own reports and graphs and display them on a customizable dashboard. I would also like to be able to check out other people's data more easily (with user controlled privacy settings of course).

Maybe there is a way that we can show seconds if you run a 5k or less. Will look into this.

I'm not sure that a mixed (sometimes rounded and sometimes not rounded) helps very much. It might actually make the data worse. I think what we'd all like to see here is a way to export or view our data with the actual distance and actual time, so that we can slice and dice it how we like. If I may suggest a simple solution that would provide the most satisfaction---The "List" view could displaythe unrounded numbers. I I think that would go a long way for most of us.

Edit: woop. It looks like you're not rounding now.

Rounding up is cheating. If the software can't do the math??? at least round it down.

I have to revive this topic, i hate getting to the end of a week on here to find out that im actually not any where near the posted mileage because it rounds up or down every half mile. :/
grrr is what i have to say to thatposted 10 months ago

I thought it had been fixed but apparently not. Why is 26 minutes 45 being rounded up to 27 minutes?
This is insane. Please, please, please fix this! Come on, Daily Mile! You must be runners, so why would you possibly do this? 26 minutes 45 seconds is NOT 27 minutes!

Are we asking for the moon here? Seems like it would be such a simple fix.

As a matter of fact, we are. Dailymile doesn't communicate well with it's users, especially with feature requests. Even a simple, "that's not on our road map right now, but I appreciate the suggestion" would be better than silence.

Just an FYI to everyone ... This post is so old the OP isn't even on a DM user anymore...
That said, here are a couple of things that work for me, maybe they will for you as well.
1. If you go to TRAINING, and then Select SETTINGS, there is an export button that will allow you to export your training data in CSV format. This includes the exact distances and exact times, etc. (you have to do some math to convert to miles, hh:mm:ss, etc,but search the forums if you can't figure it out.) -- it's fairly easy to pivot the data and create nice charts in your favorite spreadsheet application.
2. If you click EDIT on an individual workout you are able to view the exact details.
I've embraced the rounding. It often helps me add at least a .5 to the end of each run :)
Hope that is of some help...

Thanks, It's certainly not the end of the world that it's rounded off but why round it off in the first place? We are working with computers here, it can use decimal points, it can add up exact amounts! The OP might not be here but everybody that commented is still here waiting.

We try to respond to as many people as possible. We're only two developers working on the site, and it's no possible to respond to everything. This feature is currently not on our roadmap, but we have a lot of great stuff in the pipeline.

Hi Kelly,
Firstly, please don't think we don't appreciate the hard work you guys have been putting into the site. It really is and you're both doing fantastic work on it. I love it and am going to get myself a pro account to show my appreciation. But surely, as runners yourselves, you must realise that a 55:46 time isn't a 56:00 time for a race? I don't understand why you consider this a feature when you have the accurate data already, you're just formatting it rounded up.

Appreciate the kind words. We do our best :)
We do have all the data, and there will always be places on the site where you can see your exact stats. We hope to make this easier in the next version of dailymile.

Hi Kelly,
Thanks for all your work and your words here. Where can we find our exact times?

One would think it would be EASIER to post our data accurately as opposed to rounding it up. this has been complained about for years and they never fix it. This is why I use running-log.com to keep ACCURATE running records. Dailymile is nice for the comeraderie but for real stats use something else.
