What to wear if overweight and need a good bra?

asked almost 2 years ago | Report

I'm going to be doing my first triathlon (olympic) in april in singapore. I need help on what to wear.
I live in Turkey and it's hard to find tri stuff around here.

Keeping in mind...
- I'm overweight, and very self-conscious about it
- I need good chest support for the run
- I don't mind showing some flab during the swim, as long as I'm comfortable, it's the bike and run that gets me upset
- need to be comfortable in extremely humid and hot Singapore

Thanks!

  • I've only done a few short triathlons, but I wore a shock absorber bra (from the UK I think) in the water for the swim, along with a sleeveless tri shirt and tri shorts. It worked pretty good although the races were sprints so not sure if chafing might have been an issue if it was a longer race. I also took a clinic and I remember another lady saying she hung her bra on her handlebars to dry after the swim. I never quite understood that, but there's another thought for you!!

  • My best friend suggested bras from Title Nine (http://www.titlenine.com/). They are very seriously reviewed and rated. Could be expensive. Don't know if they ship abroad.

This is, apparently, their international web store: http://www.shop.com/Title+Nine-v180134-c+.xhtml

  • Enell Sports Bra, is an american company and they don't send abroad but you can buy them via their suppliers, the one I used was

    http://www.bounce-busters.co.uk/

"Bounce Busters is a company that only provides a small choice but that choice is tried and tested by well endowed and fuller figured women whilst engaging in sport".

excellent service and the bra is specially designed for well endowed women, I have tried others and this one is the winner and worth the investment.

Good luck with your first triathlon!!!

    Regards

  • I got a great bra at target (you'd have to order online, obv) but it was a relatively cheap Champion, the one where you get a specific bra size rather than just s, m, l, etc... I LOVE it and was surprised at how well it worked.

  • I recommend an Enell bra, which you can find online a lot. They're the only ones that keep me in place.
