Numb feets

posted about 2 years ago | Report

Hello, hope someone can help me with this... I'm sorry if I don't explain myself, can't write very well in english.

After 15 minutes of running my right foot numbs, and I mean totally, the last two times that happens I just keep going on my workout, then 15 minutes later is my left foot nums too...

Is there a reason, I've asked my mom and she told me that it's because of my "running" shoes, wht do you think???

You're Mom is possibly right, your running shoes are a good place to start. Get a gait analysis done and take it from there.
How long have you been running? what type or running are you doing? how old are your trainers and what mileage have you on them?

  • Hi Pako, I think I understood your question.

There are a couple reasons I can think of from my own experience that would cause your feet to numb.

    1) Your shoes are either the wrong fit for your feet (too narrow or too short), or the laces are tied too tightly (especially at the mid-foot) or some combination of those.

    2) You may be running with too many strides per minute. The way I see this becoming a problem is if you either stride too quickly and your body is not quite comfortable with that pace, or your feet land too hard on the ground which can also cause numbness.

Hopefully that helps you out somewhat. =)

  • I also had this same issue when I was first running. My whole legs would go numb from the knee down.....I think the advice the guys have given is totally accurate. Once I got a new pair of shoes my problem fixed itself.....Hope that helps!

  • Check the tightness of your laces. Especially if you are running in warmer temperatures, your foot will expanded and if your laces are too tight, you'll be in trouble.

Get good socks and keep your laces fairly loose.

  • As Gary says you should try your laces - this may not be the right answer but a simple one to check - there are many method you can try to relieve the tightness this causes - just Google it. My friend had the same problem and this actually cured it.

  • I had the same issue when I started running. I loosened my laces of my existing shoes and it seemed to help. Eventually the problem went away. Later I learned it was probably the shoes.
