I started running by using couch to 5k. Bags of frozen veggies make great ice packs. :) Hang in there, it will feel better and YOU will feel better. good luck!

Good luck. Here's some advice:
Slow down. I know you probably don't think you're running that fast yet. Whatever pace you're running... slow down. Run really really easy. don't worry about pace yet. build your base first.
if you want to do this- you can. There will be times ahead that things will hurt. If you want this- you CAN do it. find a way around each injury and pain. 95% of all running pains and injuries get better with rest.
be tenacious. be consistent.
