Just got finished with Dean Karnazes book 50/50, so he makes the list. I'm a fan of Jeff Galloway- one of the most knowlegeable and down to earth guy in the sport. I like Pre's spirit. Bowerman is not technically a 'runner', but a runner celeb just the same.

Men: Back in the day when I ran High School Track Bostons own Bill Rodgers. Prefontaine, Frank Shorter, & Bill Bowerman. I like to see Alan Webb, Ryan Hall, and my favorite Hallie Gebresalassie.
Women: Joan Benoit the first womens olympic marathon winner. Others are Deena Kaster & Paula Ratcliffe. I can't leave my favorite women out, hehe. ( : Cool Post.

Most of my favorite runners are hardly celebrities, since most runners have probably never heard of them. Cavin Woodward, Jose Cortez, Bob Deines, and Bernd Heinrich are a few of them.
I agree with Kelly too, Yiannis has records 10% better than the next best performance, and is still setting world records into his 50s. I've met him before, and he's a really humble guy despite how tough a competitor he is.

Will Ferrell ran a marathon. Don't know if he's still a runner, but I mean c'mon. Will Ferrell.

Bill Rogers, I met him at my first marathon. He talked with me awhile and wished me luck. I'll never forget that day. I ran a sub 4 hour marathon too.

Cliff Young. I still remember watching this race on the news as a kid. Turning up in gumboots. What a frickin' classic! It's not the gear, it's the attitude.

UK influence here:
Paula Radcliffe for the ladies and Welshman Steve Jones for the guys. Steve broke the marathon world record back in the 80's and always gave 150%
How about this finish?
