Can't help too much, since I sadly don't have the problem of needing support! ha :) But, the Title9 company is made for women, and they have a few pages in their catalog reviewing sports bras, maybe that would be helpful?

I'd love to know the answer to this as well. I'm sure there is something out there that is a miracle worker, but I haven't found it yet.
Currently what I do is wear a regular underwire bra, and then on top of that a running Climalite/Dry-fit tank that I buy one size too small. It kind of binds it all well enough that I'm not hitting myself in the chin with every bounce.

My better-endowed friends like Enell and something called "the frogbra." Title 9 carries one, if not both. They're not particularly attractive, but they do the job! They are "squoosh 'em flat" style bras.
I personally like the Champion Shape sports bras. They're a good choice if you're a C or smaller. They have separate cups that support each of your ladies, but without any underwires.

For me, it's the Enell. It feels a little like wearing body armor when you first put it on, but *nothing* moves. I like it when nothing moves. :-)
My second place sports bra would the Goddess Sports Bra from Junonia.

I think the Athleta site is a good one for bras, since it gives choices for different impact levels (I'm guessing running is classified as "high" impact), and then in the bra description it says what cup size the bra is best for.
Sadly, after two kids and with weight loss, my "girls" kinda went away. But I had that fixed a couple of years ago, and now I can wear like an Adidas sports top (the longer length kind) with the built-in bra and it works just fine.

I don't know if you call it luck or if I should blame my genes, but I have larger ones and I know exactly what you mean. I found a bra that they don't move in, honestly. It's a Champion PowerBack. It is fantastic!

I have DD cups and I like many of the sports bras with underwires that title9.com has. I didn't like the enell, it was too tight across my barrel rib cage and I couldn't really breath. I also "double bag" - I'll wear an expensive and super supportive underwire sports bra, and then put a cheap pull-on sports bra on over it.

Champion C9 sports bras from Target. I don't know if you can buy them online, but they come in multiple colors in the store. I've been running since I was 13 and after I got my first after I went running in my first one, I went out and bought 5 more.

The September issue of Runner's World has an article on page 127 about sports bras.
And Karina, the term "double bag" made me laugh! when I was nursing my kids and running, I'd wear a nursing bra with a sports bra over it. Whatever it takes, right?

Definitely the Champion sports bras are the best. They are snug, but the girls stay in place! They have separate cups.... nice!

oooh this is totally left field to what everyone else has said, but i am totally in love with the Patagonia sports bras because they breathe and wick moisture so if its a cold day and you sweat, you don't end up wet and then cold after you stop. they also feel like wearing body armor so nothing moves. I like that too.

Everyone is different, just like in shoes. Also it depends on your size. Enell gets raves and raves and raves. I've never tried that one, but I usually order different kinds from Title 9 or Athleta and review them on my blog (runfrom 30.blogspot.com) under the heading "Double D Reviews." Guess what size I am? I used to love the FrogBra but I've found lately it's more difficult to get off if I'm still sweaty (no longer willing to cool down in my nast before a shower) so I've been liking things like Glamourise and the Moving Comfort 2 in 1 full support bra.

I swear by the Moving Comfort Fiona. Been through a couple marathons and an ultra marathon. The bra has a job to do since even at my lightest I am a D to DD. Used to double bag back in the day - thank goodness for technology!!!!

I don't know if you have Shock Absorber Bras in the states. They come in various levels. Level 4 for D+ ruunning. I am quite a bit bigger than DD and I think they are great. I am going to check out the other makes revealed by the other answers though.

I am a big fan of the Moving Comfort Maia bra. Good underwire, nothing moves. I am a DD so I definitely need the support. Before I found this bra I'd wear a full coverage underwire with a sports bra over it.

Light & Firm Sport Bra
Rosa Faia by AnitaI get mine at www.athleta.com. They are expensive ($54), but cheaper than surgery later - ; ). I have 3 like this, and I wear them everyday. And I wear them on days off, too. They are really comfortable.
I just realized I ordered a different rosa faia style. I hope it's as good. If not, I'll send it back.

Hi Cecilia! I am so right there with you. I currently wear a CW-X sports bra - http://www.cw-x.com/ss/womens/w_support_bras_b_d. I wear the firm support bra (bottom right).
I have heard the Title9 ones are good too.
ps. Shameless Plug - I write a blog (occasionally since I am in PT school) about being a big chested long distance runner. Check it out at topheavyrunner.blogspot.com!

You want to look for something with 3+ bars. Most sports bras for well endowed women (like myself) look like vests almost. My favorite is the Athena bra. Another important aspect is knowing your correct size. If you haven't been measured lately, I recommend it. Wearing the correct size will also help with your posture. I like titlenine.coml. Figleaves.com also has a good selection.

Got an Enell...have run in it several times and it is GREAT! The bra is really wide at the shoulders and supports the back well, also. I feel like my posture while running is better when I wear the Enell. The only draw back is it is a pain to fasten all of the hooks...there are like 10 or 12 of them...no way to put it on or take it off too quickly!

I have pretty small ones...but this is the bra I am obsessed with http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3152373.
It has a strong bottom support---and I occasionally throw my iPod in there HAHA!
But yeah this bra is perfect , comfortable, durable. If I am going to run without a shirt it's the only bra I will use.answered almost 3 years ago |Report

Girl, it is not painfully impossible! I have your answer...
Although expensive, I found the Enell sports bras to be the best! Checkout Enell.com. I've been wearing them for years. They worked for me as a chesty, nearly 300 lb. woman. Today, 135 less of me, I still swear by them for high-intensity events.
I also like the Maia, by Moving comfort -- but the Enell is my favorite! I won't run without it. It really is the lock-the-girls-up kinda bra... they're not budging!

I absolutely love the Lilyette In Motion Power Motion for support and I prefer the one without underwire for running. They are wicking and comfortable even on the long runs and the hot days.
The only downside is the white version has some grey on it which can be seen through a light coloured top - it shows through on my latest race photos from Emerald Across the Bay!

Moving Comfort is available at Dick's Sporting Goods and comes in larger bra sizes (band and cup). I'm a 36DDD and can't stand underwires or "compression" bras like the frogbra--this one did it for me with the added advantage that I could try it on. Good luck and thanks for the post!!

I'm a B cup on a good day! :-). I like the Champion Shape bras - cause I would like to look like I have at least a little something going on there..... My problem is finding bras that don't chafe along my upper ribcage. They are fine on shorter runs, but if I go over six miles or so - I run into trouble. I've tried bodyglide which helps.....

CW-X! I have between a D and DD chest size and I thought finding decent support (without doubling or tripling up) was virtually impossible... Until I discovered the CW-X Xtra Support Zip back bra. Not only is it super supportive (trust me, nothing moves), but it zips up in the front. Consequently, after an enormously sweaty run, you're not dislocating your shoulders to get your bra off... one zip and release. ;) www.cw-x.com

I have various brands for sports bras, but none of them supports and hold my breasts flat and tight enough for me. I've lost pounds of my breasts already and don't want to lose anymore.
The best way for me has been wearing two sports bras. That was the only way to save my tatas :D lol
But personally, I like Underarmour and Champions.

What great info!!!!!! I'm much older than most of you young ladies here!! We did not have anything like sports bras when I was in high school, playing tennis on the tennis team, and I HATED it. My mom put me in one of those 18 Hour Heavy Cloth Corsets!! Ha, ha, ha.... still didn't work. (oh the nightmares!!) Most chesty girls just didn't play sports. I did anyway. Now, fast forward 300 years, from Flintstones to Jetsons - I discovered Under Armor's sports bras, and have been very happy with them. A bit expensive ($50+), but so very worth it to me.
But, man, I'm going to check out Enell and CW-Z now!! Thanks so much for the info!
(oh, and, please.....when I was nursing - I don't want to think about those days!! HA!!! :-O

I've been really happy with the rating system at http://www.titlenine.com Am a fan of the "hallelujah bra". There are others that have a higher rating, but I find they don't breath as well. If you want absolutely no movement try the "Last Resort". It's super ugly, but total stops any bounce.

-
I own The Last Resort Bra from Title Nine and I give it a lot of credit for why I now enjoy running. Before, I found running to be painful for my chest and was embarrassed by all the bouncing, even when I would double up and wear two cotton sports bras. It does look like a suit of armor but I completely forget I have breasts when I go running now, which makes up for what it lacks in aesthetics! Definitely measure yourself with the title nine sizing chart to make sure you choose the right size and get the proper fit. The first couple times I wore it, I felt like I had an elephant sitting on my chest but that feeling went away pretty quickly and now I find it comfortable.

I'm a 34 DD, and I love the Moving Comfort bras. I'm currently wearing the Fiona, but I also like the Maia (which may have been discontinued - I'm not sure). Maia is more shapely, Fiona is awesome for keeping everything very much in place.

I was a champion dry absorb bra in tank for the last ten years. I loved them when I was a D, before having kids, then while nursing, too. They were fantastic for support. Then, my grandmother recently bought me a running "outfit" for a gift. Who would have thought that a 90 year old would have found the jackpot for me? Anyway, I'm a large B, small C depending on the cycle, and I can't go back to my champion. It's a Nike Fit bra in tank. She bought it at Macy's. I'm sure the other "specialty" bras are great, too. This one is probably best for smaller women.

I use a normal cotton one with the racer back and wide band...but I buy it 1-2 sizes too small. You get used to the cinching feeling around your ribcage. It doesn't hinder movement or breathing, it just feels a little tight untul you get used to it. But it means there's no bouncing. At all. At least that I can feel, which is what I care about.

I'm a BIG fan of lulu lemon's sports bras. They've got two, one is a tank and the other is just a sports bra. Best part about them aside from the support is the names: "Let Me Hold Those 4U" is the tank and "Tata Tamer" is the bra.
Also, I've found the Champion ones from Target stretch out and I now only wear mine when I'm riding the bike at the gym because there's no bouncing involved.

I use and have used for a quite some time, the Speedo XDSkin, if it rains, it dries really quick, doesn't feel uncomfortable or too tight & reduces chaffing. It also has a zipped back, which i am a HUGE fan of. I either use that one or the under armour strength1, both are great, hard to find but great!

The only sports bra I run in is the Lila Sports Bra by Moving Comfort. Thanks to Sierra Trading Post's low prices, I've managed to collect quite a few. They are super comfortable, and I have never had a single complaint with them. You can buy them here: http://tinyurl.com/n9by2t

I love Lululemon Athletica for all things fitness. They offer a wide variety of ever so changing colors and styles for sports bras, as well as full tanks with support. The level of support ranges from barely nothing to full coverage, but it depends on what you're looking for. I recommend trying on a few styles and seeing what you like.

I've bought my sports bras at Academy and Target. Just grab a couple, go into the dressing room and jump around trying them on - if they hold you doing that, you've got a winner. I don't need much support myself, but can definately tell when the bra is holding everything together and when it isn't.

Moving Comfort is very expensive but their bras work very well. I almost hate to say the sizes here but I was a 32DD -- now a 32D---No plastic surgery--just the way it is. Getting sized right makes a world of difference. Most of the time in a regular bra and a sports bra I noticed too much give in the straps and I ended up w/a whole lota bouce (no fun). I really love several of their bras but some are not offered in the size above and whenever I compromise I pay for it later.
My bra of choice right now has velcro in the straps and when I wash them w/my running clothes--well--you know what happens. It's worth it to me.
I have always purchased through Title 9 -- they will accept returns and credit you back promptly. This is a company by women for women. All the best Cecilia! Happy shopping.

I love the Marika sports bras! I first discovered them at my local Marshall's for $12.95/each and have since purchased 5 in two different styles and colors. They have removable padding too & while I'm not particularly blessed in that area (34B), I would imagine they would hold up well if you're heavy on top too. Lululemon also has great ones from what I hear, but the Marikas at Marshall's is a bargain!

I have a new favorite bra for running -- the TaTa Tamer from Lululemon! Seriously, the girls do NOT move in that thing. It's amazing, especially considering that it doesn't give you a uniboob. Also comes in neat colors and large cup sizes. http://is.gd/csyWd
You can wear it with the straps straight or criss-crossed in a racerback configuration. It's a little difficult to put it on when you have the straps criss-crossed, but once it's on, it's super comfortable either way.

ENELL! I have tried several different bras for large breasted women and none of them gave me support like the enell. My enell bra holds them down and I can still breath, before enell I had to wear 3 sports bras over top of my regular bra and they still did not give me support like enell. Enell was also featured on Oprah and once the Oprah effect happened they sold out of 9 months worth of stock in 2 days. I will always be a enell customer it allows me to run without bouncing. Also I am a 36 DDDD (yes that is 4 D's) but most places that make bras assume that you have to be a 44 to have large breast but enell understands that just because you have large breast that doesn't mean that you need a large number
