I'm not sure why you think it might be wise to run a few hours before a 5K race. I guess if you don't care how you do, go for it. If you're trying to do well, I wouldn't recommend it.

Sure. As long as it isn't to be "more ready". I usually go out for runs or bike rides the day before races. It helps me calm my nerves. I'd recommend doing so without your normal gear though. Leave the watch at home and just run to run.

I have always run light and easy the day before a race. It seems to calm those pre race jitters. Good Luck.

I don't think there is much of a physical benefit, other than maybe if you go light & short and get the blood flowing. But if it makes you feel confident, then again light & short might help. Good luck in the race!
