Pegasus alternative?

asked 4 months ago | Report

I've only run in Pegasus+ 28. It's my first pair and I have had no problems with it. It's getting almost 700 miles now and I'm shoe shopping. I want to try on some other similar shoes for comparison, what do you all recommend?

I run neutral, mid/fore foot strike, prefers wider toe box. I'm also fairly light weight so durability will not be a huge concern. I run ~40 mpw and do mostly 6 miles run plus 13-20 miles long runs. I like similar or softer cushioning as the Pegagus because I run mostly on concrete.

Thanks for any suggestions!

  • I'm still running less than you, but I went from using the Pegasus to the Brooks Ghost. My feet spread after having my baby, and the Ghost is a little wider through the arch than the Pegasus was.

  • I went from Pegasus to Asics Nimbus 13 and Brooks Glycerins 8's (they may have the newer model out now) and both are an upgrade from the Pegasus. If you are looking to stick with Nike, the Vomero is the step up. Go to a specialty running store, most let you take the shoe on a "test drive". Good luck!
