I just bought a bike and from experience and what a few bike techs and research has taught me is don't go for anything under $600 as an entry bike. The quality and ability to upgrade a good bike starts around there. You'll find that there is a huge difference in ride, weight, and adjustability to your fit in spending a bit more. Also youll have a good warranty with the manufacturer. I would start with your local bike shop and at least find out what to look for online. If you don't like it, you wont use it. Hope this helps.
