Road bike is probably what you want if you're interested in road stuff. You can get a tri/tt bike but they're less versatile and harder to climb with, while a road bike is much more versatile, easier to climb with.
If you want to do some trail riding etc. a hybrid bike may work, but you'll be sacrificing some speed and weight to do so.
Look up some bike fitting basics, and look used, this time of year you can usually find a good deal :)
