Go to you LBS (Local Bike Shop) and see what they have to offer. I would suggest a mountain bike shoe, it will be easier to walk and from the car (mine are ok to drive in). The spin bikes use SPD pedals so you should only need a 2 hole SPD shoe. You will also need to pick up SPD cleats.
I have a pair of Pearl Izumi Mtb shoes for both spin and mountain biking, they were ~$70. You can always look online, realcyclist.com performancebike.com or amazon.com or any of the thousand other places. I prefer to buy shoes locally so I KNOW they fit.

Everyone I've talked to says shoes are one place you should never skimp. I look at what brands to get by looking at what everyone around me wears: Sidi and Specialized. I have a pair of Bontragers I don't much care for that I will be replacing next month as a Christmas gift to myself.

Since Tracy is asking about shoes for spin classes, a high end cycling shoe, with a high end price, is more than is really needed. Most spin classes are 1 to 1-1/2 hours long, and the most dedicated student will only be putting in 5 to 7 hours a week spinning. The requirements of a cyclist, riding 4 to 7 hours a day are much more demanding.
However, the suggestion of looking to see what others are wearing is a good place to start, asking the instructor, would also be another good resource.

I agree with Dan. I bought some shoes because I was turning my knee in. I asked the instructor for suggestions. I went to the bike store that services the bikes at the gym. I was able to get them on sale. The regular price was on the low end, about $80. The clips were sold separately. I actually put my shoes on in the gym, but I'm sure that I could where them driving to the gym.
I hope that this helps.

Thanks everyone. I went to a local bike shop and REI over the weekend to see what they had to offer. There are quite a few bike shops around the area so I'm going to check out a few other places too.

I've had a bunch of shoes (Lake, Northwave, shimano), but I keep coming back to Sidi. They cost a fortune, but I think they're far and away the best shoe available. The fit is amazing.

Hey Tracy, While your visiting all those bike shops, why not pick up a bike while you're at it :)
