I put up a review of the app - http://runblog.ca/2010/12/app-review-electric-miles-for-iphone/
I really liked it - perhaps some will be disappointed that this isn't an all-in-one tracker with Dailymile integration, but I think that this does a lot of things very well and for those not looking for that kind of Dailymile app, this is perfect.
Thanks for making it free and ad-free.

dailymile is working on android and iphone apps. I could certainly write Electric Miles for android but it will take some time :)

Thanks for the review, James! I know people are looking forward to a dailymile app with GPS tracking.

Is there a way that I can log in with my facebook account? I don't have a DM account that I made on the website, I simply use my facebook account. I'd love to be able to upload photos from my phone to the site but can't log in as of yet.

I'd like to add this as well. I'm not sure how the Facebook login would work yet, but I've asked the dailymile guys for suggestions.

Android Miles is on my list... but to be honest, it did take me a year to write the iPhone app :D

That's cool, I can wait. :-) Meantime, I'm enjoying it on my iPod Touch. Thanks for the great work!

Just played around with it a little bit and already loving it. Thanks for the effort! I found two minor issues and one feature request:
1) The "like" button is always shaded (at least in the "popular" view) and clicking it has no effect.
2) The small motivation icons ("congrats", "I'll beat you" and the like) do not show in the comments. Comments with motivation just look like normal comments.
3) I would love to see a "settings" section, especially to tell the app that I want the figures to be converted into metrical format (kilometers rather than miles). But maybe this needs to be a feature of the actual dailymile website?
using an iPod Touch (penultimate hardware version) with latest iOS version.

Great job on the iPhone App. Just downloaded it and I am very impressed at the work that went into it. A very nice effort indeed! Thanks!

I like the app, and the options for viewing different posts is very cool.
I usually sync my Garmin to upload a run, but last week it failed me, so i used EM to upload my run right after it was done. Very handy.
I'd like to see the ability to access my profile pictures (I was trying to show a pic to a friend today and tried through EM but ended up firing up the browser...)
Any development being done for Windows 7 phone?
Regards,

The like button should be enabled if you're logged in, and select the entry you want to like... otherwise I can't tell what you're liking :)
The dailymile API does not distinguish between Comments and Motivations. Once that is available, I can display it. That's also why you can't motivate from Electric Miles as well.
Metric units is a common request. Should be available in a few weeks, I am working on Facebook integration as well.

dailymile has posted their API documentation, so "someone" could write a Windows 7 application. Unfortunately I have my hands full with bug fixes, an iPad port, and then the Android Miles application.
You want to see photos you've uploaded? That's an interesting idea.

re: "You want to see photos you've uploaded?" - not just mine, but being able to view profiles, and their photos would be neat.
Again, great job with the app and the future ports!

The 'Nearby Entries' option doesn't work on my iPod Touch. Is that because the Touch doesn't have GPS so can't 'locate'? Thanks for a great app!

You are exactly right, Karyl-Lynne. Uh, I guess I should hide that option from you :( there is code that checks to see if GPS is available. I will investigate. I do plan to add a "let me pick the location" interactive map. Using the GPS is different from what the website offers, but neither lets you easily browse dailymilers around a random place yet.

I agree about the website not letting us browse around a random location -- I've actually changed my location a couple of times to 'trick' it. It makes sense that the app would use the GPS feature, but being able to pick a location would be great. Great job with the app!

Definitely the FB integration. I can't use it until that happens. I'd lose all my data and friends... or at least have to start over once I created a DM account.
But yeah it looks good!

I am really happy with it! I'm one of those people who likes to keep everything separate so as long as the facebook thing doesn't happen automatically I'll continue to be very happy. One thing I wouldn't mind seeing if possible is new friend requests and inbox messages.

Is there a sync function for EM? I couldn't find it - would be great to sync Nike+ directly with EM.
Also - Is there a reason why EM doesn't use the DM's logo or colors? I didn't know they were related until I read the description!
Otherwise - nice work!

The latest version on the app store lets you login with Facebook, and you can chose to share entries with Facebook or Twitter on a per-posting basis. Go try it :)

Sharing is disabled by default. You have to select Facebook or Twitter in the comment screen to have dailymile send them on for you.

Unfortunately, Nike doesn't have a public way to talk to their hardware. They've worked out a private deal with Apple for the Nike+ app.
Electric Miles is a 3rd-party app, so it needs a different logo, colors, name etc. because it's not The Dailymile App.
Maybe that will change someday :)
