Running and IBS

posted about 1 month ago | Report

Curious to know if any of the runners on this board have IBS?!?! I do and am interested to see how running has helped? It has done wonders for me!

  • Can't say if its helped noticeably... but it certainly hasn't done anything bad. I would say that its a bit less of an issue but as to the root cause of that change being running... well, I don't want to stop running to find out... so... until a more noticeable change occurs... I'm saying the jury is till out in my case.

  • I had this problem when I first started running. We have a lot of hills in Kentucky, and I found that it was the downhills that were causing me the most problems. I took some time to hill, changed my course, and slowing advanced into greatter milage an hills. I have heard a foam roller is really great for helping IBS.

  • Jason, I think you're talking about IT Band Syndrome. They're talking about having the runs. Literally. Foam roller won't help that. Fiber will.

  • No, I guess a foam roller won't help. Thanks Ryan.

But Jason, your point stands. Foam rollers are awesome and cure most things.
