I will go first. I am a pharmacist. I usually work a 9-6 or 11-9 shift, and I work some Saturdays and maybe one Sunday per month. I try to get my runs in late in the evening after 6 or get up before work and run. I work 4 ten-hour shifts, so I usually get 3 days off per week. I take advantage of that and try to train on my days off, but I also try to reserve at least one whole day off from work and training per week. I find it horribly difficult to work, run, and cook dinner for my husband, lol. I couldn't imagine having kids on top of this!

That's nice to be able to get your workout out of the way in the middle of the day. I have to maintain a professional image and be well-groomed for my job, so coming back to work all sweaty wouldn't go over very well.

Tammy, this is a great topic. Thanks for starting.
I'm a Director of Sales for the local Convention and Visitors Bureau. It is a great gig because I get to promote and sell a city that I live, work, and play in. Our sales staff focuses on group sales for sporting teams, leisure groups, and up to midsized meetings/conventions. I've been in the hospitality industry for many years and most recently a General Manager of a hotel for 7 years. To learn more check me out on LinkedIn http://www.linkedin.com/in/jamestevault
My job is a 8-5 M-F gig so working out is in the am, pm, and weekends.

I like this topic.
Well currently I am in Oregon on a summer contract with the Indian Health Service, a subdivision with Health and Human Services department. They have a alot of budget issues that they tought could use my services. After the contract runs out (august 7th) I will be returning to michigan to finish my Masters degree in Health Administration. I am 5 classes shy of finishing. Some of my previous research with professors is what landed me out here. Not sure what I will be doing with school once I get back or where I will be next year. The government is a secure path to follow, but lots of red tape, which is a huge drawback.
So we will see what happens next May.

I'm a supervisor in the employee benefits department for The New York Times Company (although our office is in VA, not NY)
I normally work 45-50 hours a week, so I've had to get creative at fitting in time for running. Right now, early mornings are better since it gets so humid here. I normally only do a long run on the weekend, but am trying to figure out a way to get in a second semi-long one during the week!

A PC/MAC technician at a Westchester College. I work 9-5 but I can come and go as I please. (sort of) I do have a flexible schedule.
I work mostly with stock-up, self-centered people that call themselves "Professors" who think that by turning on the monitor in the morning is turning on the whole PC and yet think they know more than you when it comes to fixing a problem. Common problem "My computer wont boot up" Well did you press the power button on the monitor or the tower? "Mmmmm is there one on the tower?" DUH.. Then we have the students. Some are cool some are rude some are just "#*#*#*#&" but that is life I guess they come in all colors. I do most of my runs at the wellness center at school during lunch time. And once a week at night for a long run or some weights. Love my job but the people are stressful LOL.posted over 2 years ago

This is an awsome topic!
I work in sales for the largest private staffing agency in the Southeast, the 4th best in Atlanta (wahoo). I work about 45 hours a week, Monday - Friday. But I am on call 24-7. You never know when someone may need someone. My job rocks though - I basically walk around, climb stairs, trek up hills (in heels), and run across busy roads all day. I then go home to do my training, play with my dog, and entertain my boyfriend. I do long runs on Saturday with my Team in Training (http://pages.teamintraining.org/ga/nikesf09/bvines) team!

I'm also in school (CUNY) pursuing my CPA degree, and my goal is to become an Auditor. My husband and I, workout our schedules so we can both get our running miles in per week or sometimes at the gym for cross-training. We also have a cute 2 yr old who will soon be a runner. =)

I work in the Office of Admissions at UW-Madison (Go Badgers!) and manage recruitment programs on-campus and across the country for prospective students and high school counselors. I love working with students and enjoy the energy of being on a college campus. I typically work from 7:30am-4:30pm. Summer is a lighter time in the office, which is great for ironman training. I generally run before work and then either swim/bike after work. My morning commute is a 10-minute walk, and I live on a jogging path, within 5-minutes of three area lakes, and 15-20 minutes away from riding in the middle of the country....the proximity and ease of getting to workouts certainly makes things easier to juggle.

Hey Joyce! I'm also going to school to pursue a CPA - I'm getting my Master's at Baruch part-time starting this fall. My goal to work in forensic accounting and/or securities fraud. I already have my B.S. in accounting and finance so hopefully I can finish it up in under 2 years.
I work in financial services supporting equity derivatives traders (who make me want to commit suicide/homicide). I work 8-7 most days but longer when we're closing out the month, the quarter, or the year. That means that I run at 5am or 10pm during the week and try to schedule in a long run on the weekends. But even that can be hard; my husband and I both work pretty long days so the weekends are for family, errands, and everything else we don't have time to do during the week (including, occasionally, sleeping in).

Great topic!
I am a Physical Therapist at a local hospital, where I work 40 hrs per week, primarily with geriatric patients with neurological or orthopedic conditions. My work days are a bit unconventional, I work tues-sat. In addition, I work part-time for a Home Health Care agency, where I see patients for PT at their private homes. My part-time work fluctuates, but on average, I work 60+ hr weeks. Working out is a great stress reliever for me, and it also helps to keep me in shape for a very physically demanding job.
Thanks a bunch to the dailymile community for the added motivation!! :)

I'm a web developer at a local design firm. My schedule is all sorts of messed up thanks to deadlines and website emergencies. So what I did is schedule a class at the gym at 5:30pm three days a week. I HAVE to go, so I do. And if I still have work to do, I finish it from home after working out. On my non-class days, my boyfriend usually goes for a jog with me. :) Working out keeps me grounded. Too much programming keeps me way too tied up in my own skull.

I'm a grade five teacher, which gives me great holidays where I can train a couple of times every day. During term time I'm out the door at 7am and return after 5pm (its not all 9 til 3 you know!) so it makes running time more challenging. In the Summer its great as I drive to a nice spot on the way home, as its Winter now its tough. Thinking of joining a gym down the road for some warm and light training.
I also have a wife, a two and a bit year old and one on the way... so I have to be flexible and not too hard on myself when there just isn't time.

I make video games! It's not all fun and games. Its a lot of long hours and very stressful trying to stay on schedule, budget and ship a quality game on time. I used to work crazy hours 70-80s a week were common. Sometimes I wouldn't come home for a couple days when we were trying to get a game done. My record is up 3 days. I stared running to help with the stress. This turned into running my first race and I was hooked. I slowly built up to half-marathons and now sprint Triathlons. A year ago I quit a very stressful game studio to go a smaller one. Its still stressful but not as many hours. I used to workout in the morning, but I have a longer commute so I have been working out at lunch time and afterwork. If I need mileage I do get some morning workouts in. Weekends are when I do my long miles. Its hard juggle work and family (3 boys) but I find time. One is leaving for college and the younger two are in sports themselves. I travel some so I have to be discipline and make sure I workout while on the road. At times it can be hard others times great, I have been able to run in different countries around the world. My goal is to win the lottery and write. :-)

Right now I am between jobs (that is the politically correct term for downsized, laid off, unemployed, fired, canned, etc.)
Earlier in the year I was a Senior Natural Gas Scheduling Analyst for an unregulated gas marketing wholesale company in Houston, but I have not worked for the past three months. Right now I am hot on the trail of a new job opportunity and I have an interview on Tuesday, so wish me luck.
When I was was working, I did my running during the week at a 24\7 gym on the treadmill. I would also ride my bike to the park n ride, and then get off the bus several blocks early and walk to my building. I would do my outdoor running on weekends.
Since getting downsized I have had plenty of opportunities to run wherever and whenever I want! I finally was able to lose those 5 lbs I have been trying to shed since early this year!

Mother of a 4 and 2 year old, wife, and full time college student. With my husband on a strange work schedule I run when I can. His off days I run at about 530am for 5-6 miles or if I don't have class I make it a long run 10+. If I can't do a solo run then I take the kids in the jogger stroller and huff it for about 4-5 miles depending on how I feel and how calm they are.

The way I workout is by signing up for events and include a friend, so that it forces me to workout and keeps it friendly competitive. Everyday, I have to set a time that I will be working out, just like everything else in my life, so that it actually gets done. Always nice to see people in all walks of life running. My life essentially revolves around my family, profession, and running. As for profession, I am a physician and more specifically internal medicine. I work 5 half days in clinic and the rest in the hospital and nursing facilities. Depending on the time of year, my hours can range from 40-90 hours/week. I work my running around my call schedule which is every fourth day and fourth weekend. Usually take shorter runs when I am on call and I carry my cell phone in a plastic bag (I have broken cell phones in the past from water damage from sweat). Kinda of a drag to have to answer a call when I am in the middle of doing a tempo run. So I have to plan my easy runs on my call days. I am not a morning person so I usually run at twilight or in the dark.

I'm a librarian at a university library. My hours are standard - Monday through Friday, 8-5. I run in the mornings because I live in East Texas and it's way too hot to go at any other time. I've also found that if I make working out the first thing on my list of stuff to do, it's more likely to get crossed off. : )

I'm a full time college student during the year. I'm attempting to earn a bachelor's in English with a minor in Business Administration. I work part time as a building coordinator/custodian on campus. That means I take out trash during the week and dress up and play bosslady during weekend hours. I work 40 hours a week during the summer and most of my hours are on weekends. It's hard to find time to spend with my family and my fiance, but I have to run in the summer! I run early in the morning. That's MY time.
Oh, and I'm getting married on July 11th, so my schedule is crazier than usual!

I just graduated High School and I'm taking a few online courses to keep busy and get them out of the way. I suppose I'm a part time student then. I find I can get more done when I have more to do-if I have the whole day to do whatever I want, I dick around for so long that I don't get ANYTHING done. I also coach gymnastics and diving lessons, volunteer a few days a week, and develop healthy and gluten-free recipes.
I don't really have a "real job" so I have NO excuse not to be active and fit. I admire that all of you guys can fit it into your busy schedule!
To keep myself more active, I just started tennis, golf, and I joined a running group. I live on a golf course, so I kind of felt like a douchebag for not knowing how to golf. I've always loved tennis but made up too many excuses not to play on a team. I'm thinking about swimming lessons too!
I'm going to take at least a semester off before starting college, but I would LOVE to attend ASU. So if any of you have connections...;-)
Good luck to everyone!

Great topic, it is fun reading what everyone does in their 'non-spare' time!
I do product development for an online jewelry retailer. Which means all the pretty, shiny, expensive things are at my desk at all times. I guess you could say I'm pretty popular among the ladies! I work 8:30-5 most days, and I usually do my running after work. It's such a habit for me to get home and immediately change into my running clothes. I have to say, it's actually a relief to be able to do that!

I'm a MD/MBA student at Drexel currently in my 4th year of the 5 year program. I have completed my first and second year of medical school along with the MBA. I start my clinical rotations tomorrow. Expected workload for my third year of medical school should be around 80 hours a week plus several hours a night of studying. I hope to maintain my exercise routine, but I will have to take it one day at a time. Any advice of how to jam it all in is appreciated!

I am a full time college student, holla! Haven't heard back from my advisor yet, but the goal is to graduate in three years with a double major, English and French. I workout whenever I'm not in class or planning Homecoming 2009; sometimes my roommate pulls me out of bed to make me stick to my training - gotta love her! The age old saying is, "A social life, homework, sleep - pick two, welcome to college"...I squeeze my workouts in around the most obvious two, social life and homework! "Who Needs Sleep" by the Barenaked Ladies is my theme song when I'm at school :)

I work as a preschool teacher. I only work about 25 hours a week, planning for, and teaching my little ones. Currently I teach four-and-a-half year olds, but come the new school year, I'll be down to 3.5 year olds. This gig is part of a graduate assistantship where I work through the preschool, while getting grad school tuition waived, and also receiving a stipend. I'm working on getting my Master's in Literacy Studies and Reading (K-12). I'm fortunate for the slow work schedule- gives me lots of time to focus on training.

Currently, I work as an Office Manager (because I don't like the title Admin. Asst.) but I was originally hired as the QA Chemist. The secretary left in Aug. 08 and I've been doing her job since. I REALLY dislike it, so I went back to school to get a teaching certificate to go with my biology and chemistry degree. I do both of those full time, and part time, I coach high school cheerleading. On top of that, I've got a boyfriend away at school for one more semester! It's busy. During the cheer season, I didn't even bother starting a workout routine, but when it ended I did, so now, when it starts back up full swing, I know I'll make time because it's part of my week. But, I can already sense how hectic it will be. I did get a planner with hourly sections, so I can keep myself on track, esp. on busy days!

I also have a husband and a two year old little girl....I typically run in the am after I've gotten off work (treadmill work in the PT department, as of now). This post is great! Thanks Tammy! And great job everyone for balancing a social life with family life with work and working out.
As for me, I'm a Windows Systems Engineer/Admin (AKA, I'm a computer geek) for a mid-sized manufacturing company. I basically take care of anything and everything that touches a computer, BlackBerry, server, etc. The hours are pretty much 8-5 m-f, but I get the occasional late night phone calls and weekend issues that force me into the office at odd times. I usually get home from work, throw on some running clothes and head right back out the door to get my runs in. A few nights a week I get done with my run and head over to a gym to play some pick up hoops with some guys and other nights I take off for a good mountain bike ride right after my run. The weekends are when I get my long runs in and my mornings are usually reserved for a solid core workout. So apparently I have lots of time to get out there and workout... :)

I am a project manager for a software vendor based in Philadelphia. My job is fairly sedentary but luckily my activity level helps counter this. I typically work 8am - 4:30pm but longer hours are not uncommon at all. For this reason, I generally workout before work to ensure I can get my miles/time in. At least once a week I split up my workout and use my lunch time to get some exercise in. My job does require some travel which can put a damper on my training schedules but I have found it's simply a matter of pre-planning (finding running routes, looking up gyms etc) prior to leaving.

I find I perform better on tests and get more out of studying when I get enough sleep. I'd choose an hour of sleep over an hour of cramming any day. You could cut down on running and instead elliptical/bike while reading material or listening to a taped lecture. This way you'd be maintaining cardiovascular health even if you can't run as often. Maybe you could still run almost daily, just a little bit so you don't lose it. You can save longer runs for rare occasions when you have free time.
I think I get more done when I have a lot of shit to do, so you might be pleasantly surprised. Then again, I've never been a med student. Good luck!

Cheers to all of you who have been laid off. It sucks, it's hard. I've been there as well.
I'm a Jr. Mechanical Engineering Technologist currently employed as an Autocad Technician but seeking something more along the lines of what I was trained to do. Was laid off twice in the last 2 years as the economy started to wind down in the Natural Gas industry. Was working anywhere from 35-80hr weeks as a field engineer before, now I just work 40hrs/wk. 40hr/wk jobs are hard to come by these days, seems like every engineering outfit in town wants 60+/wk.... My hours are consistent with some occasional flexible overtime. Although I don't like my job, the consistent hours are great, it enables me to train 12-15hrs a week and get out to a lot of races on weekends.posted over 2 years ago

I'm the morning show host and program director at a radio station in Milwaukee (ish), WI. Which means I should be in bed right now. :-) I'm usually home from the station around 12:30 or 1p, which gives me just about the entire day to get my workout in (on days when my daughter is at school or with her mommy). I try to plan my nice long workouts on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as Tuesday is the most boring / useless day of the week, and Thursday is close enough to Saturday that I don't have to work out as hard on the weekend... or so I tell myself.
When I'm not at the station or on my bike, I also shoot stock photos for Getty Images and iStockphoto.com. My wallet is glad that I picked two of the most expensive hobbies that I could find. :-D
BTW, you can listen to my show live online at WBWIFM.com (6a-10a Central).

During the week, I'm an editor for a website, so I have a relatively set schedule that allows me evening training opportunities. There are definitely times that I have to evaluate my priorities, though - since I started training, it's helped me realize if I'm stretching myself too thin on a social standpoint. If I don't have time for my regular schedule, it means I'm doing too much.
Weekends are a little trickier - I've recently started scheduling in distance runs on Sundays, but I'm a tour guide at Fenway Park here in Boston on the weekends. If the team's out of town or if there's a day game, there's no problem - thus far, this has been the case. But when I find myself faced with a couple of night games over the course of a weekend, I'm going to have to get creative.

Those of you who live in CA, AZ, UT, and NV i know your mouths are watering right now! lol It's the best job ever, i absolutely LOVE training the kids and bangin out a great shift everyday, there is no time to sit, i am constantly running back and forth in that little area behind the counter, i hardly ever take a break longer than the time it takes to down a pb&j sandwich and avoiding eating those tasty lil suckers everyday is my biggest challenge! finding the time for my miles is nuts tho! An average week is usually working the night shift 4pm-2am on wed n thurs nights and doing a turn around and working at 10-6 on fri and then 8-6 on sat and sun. My weeks change every week and being a single mom to a 3yr can get hectic but luckily it seems to workout. I'll usually get my miles in in the am before my night shifts and then double up on day shifts, short one in the morning and longer one in the evening!

My title is "technology support specialist", but I handle tech support, network administration, training, and web site development for the non-profit organization I work for. My hours are usually M-F, 9-5:30. I am married, the cook in the family, and am parenting our 2 year-old granddaughter. I have found the only way I can fit running into my schedule on a regular basis is to get up early in the morning (4:45 AM now since I'm running more miles, between 5 to 10). I have my long runs on Saturday and take Sundays off, otherwise I usually run six days a week unless I'm injured, sick or the weather is really bad.

I am a high school physics teacher, so right now, I have the summer off. I have upped my training this summer from past years, getting in a few more running miles and a lot more road miles on my bike. I found a training partner this summer and am making the most of it. Unfortunately she is moving to another state in 2 weeks. During the school year, week day mornings are out. I get up by 4:30 am so I can do my barn chores by 5:15. I usually run or bike after school lets out. I stop biking when daylight savings time ends because of the lack of daylight and the colder temperatures. In the spring, I coach track, so my runs and bike rides are generally shorter after practice. Saturdays are usually out because of all day invitational track meets. So you can see, I make the most of summer and the early fall.

But, I usually have 3 days during the week where I can't run after work because I'm either teaching or taking classes. I never have to "plan" to take a rest day because they're always built into my schedule. So, I started walking 3 mornings a week with my sister to make up for not running all the time.

I have an office in Boston and support 3 foreign offices located in London, Frankfurt, and Tokyo. I basically work 8:30am to 4:30pm M-F, but I'm of course on call 24x7. I've only had the opportunity to work at and visit the London office for a week doing some upgrades and mapping out there network. I LOVE LONDON. This is the first year in 3 that I haven't put in 10-30 hours of overtime in per week. Almost no overtime at all this year, it's been great! Easier to train that way and spend time with the family. Now that I've got everything the way I want it here, I hoping this trend continues.
I've been married for 19+ years and have 3 beautiful little girls 5 and under. My wife is the best! She is a Saint for putting up with me. I try to get all my training in before I leave for my hour long train ride into Boston... but, there are mornings she's she lines up all there girls for kisses, hands me my coffee, nutrition bar and kicks my butt out the door so I don't miss the train. There are some nights I train, but not often.

It can be a tough balance, because on the weekends when I have a little more time I want to go crazy and do a lot of workouts, but it is better stretch things out during the week... the most important thing I have learned is to get up every hour at work and stretch/maybe do a few crunches on a exercsie ball... helps to keep the mind going!

I am a baby and still in college at University of Wisconsin Madison. So I do that full time; which I actually think is more time consuming than having a 9 to 5 because I have tried both. I have two majors... a bachelor of fine arts with an emphasis in graphic design and an honors BA in Spanish and my senior year is this upcoming school year. I also have a job for their athletic department; the Wisconsin Badgers if you are all familiar. I take photos of the football games during the fall season and design for their web site year-round. I also just completed an internship for Liz Claiborne in New York City for the summer. Despite all this, I hope to go to grad school for animation somewhere in Cali. I also party sometimes (rarely now, however) and try to have a life somehow. Just got back into running so it wasn't such an issue to fit it into the schedule as before during the break-neck schoolyear. But now it's gonna be tough so I probably will have to cut down on the partying.

I am a veterinarian. I can definitely be a challenge to find time to workout. In addition to my career, and equally demanding, I have a family that needs attention, including my three kids ages 10, 8 and 5. I bring the older two - girls - to my races and my husband stays home with my son. The kids are very athletic and involved in sports too, which is a time-drain as well. Shared parenting not only keeps me sane, it gives me opportunities of large chunks of time where I can schedule my long run or bike.
My work schedule is similar to yours, Tammy. It's challenging to plan my workouts but I try to do it at the beginning of the week. Soon I'll be embarking on a training plan that I hope to follow very closely so I can be prepared for a half-ironman in June and a full ironman in September, 2010. I find that when you WANT to do it, you can make the time. Of course sometimes a kid gets sick or there are things out of your control and you have to be able to be flexible ... I'm working on that part ;-)posted over 2 years ago

Juggling the schedule is very challenging, especially since I also have an 11-month-old son, but when I run during the week I usually get up ungodly early (4:30-5) and run before work, and occasionally in the evening when it is not my turn to take care of my son and I had to miss my morning workout for some reason. Flexibility and an understanding spouse is key.

We are passionate about helping people with increasing both their health & wealth! And darn it~ it is working & very full-filling! The product we discovered is helping so many people! The testimonies go on & on! My hubby's sciatica, better sleep, healthier skin, my friends hot flashes, my knees, etc! Just easy nutrition in a bottle of juice! (Soon~ Full-time working on our Fortune & not just trying to make a living) Oops~ sorry~ just excited & dreaming again about our future!
We run together but I am the more passionate runner. I am the one signing us up for 5Ks & Sprint Triathlons! I currently accepted my own challenge to train for my very FIRST Half Marathon in December '09! Whew! On my 2nd week & very happy with how it is going so far. :o) Any tips? I am VERY open for help from knowledgeable people further down the road! (pun intended) Please share with this newbie!!
Thanks again for opening up your life & taking the time to tell us about YOU!
(oh~ one last thing... we also have a HEALTHY Energy Drink that will help with sustained energy!~ sorry but it's so important that I offer what we have~ it just may be the thing you are looking/praying for as it was for us! :o)Blessings to your life & FEET!

I sell Bacon...
I'm the guy that gets to go the chefs and restaurant owners and convince them to use our meats to make their menu items. Ocassionally I get to give a chef a great recipe idea that he/she gets all the credit for. And if you are ever wondering who writes the descriptions for the items on the menu... Thats me! Ok.. I sell way more than bacon but who doesn't love Bacon! You're reading this aren't you?

I'm a newspaper photographer in Central Illinois. My schedule is usually about 50 hours/week and the hours vary depending on the season. We cover 60+ high schools and University of Illinois athletics - so I spend most of my time roaming the sidelines of Memorial Stadium, on the floor of a high school gym or in my car driving to the next game.
My wife and I just welcomed our first baby to the world in July, so that keeps me pretty busy when I get home from work. I just started running so I can be healthier and more active with my little boy when he gets older.

Freelance gives you the opportunity of flexible working hours, so I run in the morning, before going to work. On the other hand it gives you the risk of not knowing when your next paycheck is going to be.posted over 2 years ago | edited over 2 years ago

I'm a Creative Director at an insanely stressful Global Advertising agency in NYC. I try to run in the morning before work. and always on the weekends. I have a newborn baby, so getting up at 5am isn't a problem... Been training to get enough wind so that I can start running home from work. Midtown Manhattan to Park Slope Brooklyn. It's a good run. Down the East Side, Over the Brooklyn Bridge, and through the brownstones. If anyone has done that before hit me up with some advice!

I am nurse so I need to work a certain amount of weekend hours. Makes the long run scheduling a bit harder. Thankfully I can choose my days as long as I get my minimal commitment of hours in. I work 24-28 hours a week and do this around my 4 day a week running schedule. I am lucky I could cut my hours back slightly so the marathon training can happen and I still make decent money. 40 hours a week wouldn't work well for me. I am exhausted when I work more. I work in the ER and my training is pretty hard right now.

I've been a stay at home mom for two years after leaving a career in IT. I am also a Certified Personal Trainer. I have the best job for fitting in running since I am at home all day with the kids. I don't miss out on time with them since I am with them all day and I also need the sanity break and my husband understands this. There are many days that I don't feel like running or racing and he pushes me out the door. I mostly run in the evenings and on weekends. My only problem is finding time to run before dark. I can't run during the day and in the winter months this is tough to manage.

I'm a salesman for a specialty chemical distributor. I try to run at least 30 miles per week and found that I can run the perimeter roads circling shopping malls. They are always well lit and a security guard is usually patrolling so safety is not an issue. I also use mapmyrun.com to find popular running routes and have run in some beautiful areas. I find that a run in the evening helps get the kinks out of my back after riding in the car all day as well as help me clear my head before writing my customer call reports. I'm also a member of a running club and several of us run together most Tuesday and Thursday evenings for 6+ miles. Saturday mornings are usually long runs and Sundays are usually slow runs 4-6 miles in length.

JAN 2012
still a great topic....i work in public relations as an overworked admin at a local university. i want out. i want to raise my kids on my own schedule while still finding a way to buy food and pay bills, so if you have any suggestions let me know lol
i would love to be able to help people, so i'm looking into a personal trainer certification and building up to starting a yoga teaching certification next year. i would also like to find the time to do some extensive volunteer work locally and abroad, there are soooo many people in need my hurt literally hurts sometimes when i think about the condition some of us have to suffer.
currently i run 4 days a week, strength train for 2-3 days, and try to swim 2 days a week as well. yeah, there should be some block time in there for a substantial yoga practice - i'm working on that. working out keeps me sane - literally - i have been battling depression for years and am truly at my best when i use my body to its fullest potential.

I work for one of the stock exchanges in NYC and live in NJ. Suffice to say my days are typically tied up with work or the two hour commute each way. That being said I typically have to run around 4 or 5 in the morning since that's the only free time I have.

I'm a Scenes Of Crime Officer (Forensic Scene Examiner or Crime Scene Investigator). I work various shifts five days out of seven and some days on stand-by. Most of my running these days will be a commute to and from work which is a twelve mile round trip. If I don't run, I cycle - but prefer running. On the days I'm on stand-by, I drive. Some time this year we'll be moved to another office which will be further away so I'll see if I can still run-commute. I've decided that if it's less than twelve miles (24 round) then I'll give it a go.

I am currently a marketing coordinator for a life science company here in St. Louis. It's great position, involving marketing strategy, website development, online demand creation ,etc. But my commute is too long! Take away from my opportunities to work out in the morning...and sometimes in the evening.
I had previously worked out of my home as an insurance agent, but that didn't workout for a few different reason. The great positive of that position was it allowed me to workout whenever I'd like.
At one point, hopefully I'll find a 'happy mix' of the 2.

I'm a massage therapist, full time mom, and wife :) I only work 20 hours per week, but trust me, it feels like plenty when you are a massage therapist. I usually work out/run before work while hubby and baby are still sleeping, or after work (I get off at 3, go to the gym, baby gets to play in kids club) and still have time to go home and have a yummy dinner on the table at 6!

I'm a funeral director. But hopefully not for too much longer. My hours vary from 35-80 hours a week, have night and early morning calls and the stress level where I work is outrageous. Its probably largely why I'm as large as I am. I can't be too far away from my suit most days so I have the treadmill here at home instead.
I'd like to do pretty much anything else. :)

I'm a plastic surgeon. Work 6 days a week about 50-60 hours a week. Usually run after surgery or office hours. Worse part is I always have to run with phone on me and/or a pager. Have helped out coaching in the fall for cross country the last 4 years. Stepped away from running while in med school and residency, but getting back into it the last 4-5 years. I've always liked running and ran track from 6th grade all the way through 4 years of college. Now enjoy seeing my sons run.

Greetings to all... I'm an editor and writer for a small publishing house. I also teach college class as an adjunct. So, I spend a lot of time at my desk reading and writing. I try to get to work early to leave early (though I rarely do leave early... too much stuff to do), then go home, change into exercise clothing, get my dog ready, and go for a nice 4-5 mile run. Then, on the weekends, run a bit longer. Still working on endurance for long runs.
