Ladies...Best Sports Bra?

posted 11 months ago | Report

If you are like me, then a nice sports bra is a must have for running. You, like me, have probably also gone through quite a few to find the one that you really like.

I have found mine! It's the CW-X Versatx Sports Bra! What do you recommend?

**UPDATE: The URL on the review was wrong! Sorry! It is fixed now**

  • I struggled for YEARS to find a good sports bra. I'd often have to wear TWO just to keep the girls in place. I FINALLY found a wonderful sports bra from Under Armor. A LIFE SAVER!

  • Not a lady, but have heard great things about the Enell for the better endowed gals. http://www.titlenine.com has a "barbell" rating system for their sport bras, that I've heard the gals approve of.

While on the subject, we runners think nothing of dropping $100+ on a pair of shoes if they fit great and feel good, yet I hear the ladies balk at a $60-70 bra. Come on, it's for your comfort, if it takes that much to be comfortable, maybe you should just bite the bullet. In the end I would imagine you will thank yourself for it.

Hey Rhonda, thanks for responding. I love Under Armor, I've just never tried their sports bras! To be honest I didn't even think about Under Armor when I went searching. I will definitely keep them in mind during the next shopping trip!

Dan!!! You are awesome for responding and I love your logic. You're absolutely right about the shoes, not to mention the gels, camel backs, bottle belts, hats, fancy socks, clothing, and anything else you can think of that makes running more comfortable. I will check out the Enell...I've never heard of them before so you have me interested! Thanks for the response!

  • I love my Enell bra.. my husband has two nicknames for my bra with THIRTEEN clasps.. 1. Birth Control and 2. Tit Armour. I am locked and loaded in that puppy.. but! I find a chafe easily.. *sigh* I am going to try Moving Comfort next..

  • I found an amazing sports bra by Freya. Freya active has changed my life. I no longer have to wear 2 bras and have uniboob. Because of my new "equipment" I can participate in boxing, skipping, and now enjoy running and exercising. I highly recommend it.

try using bodyglide. It prevents chaffing.

  • The only bra I have ever found that does not cause any rubbing or chaffing is by Patagonia. In my opinion it is not the best support in the world but because of this I buy one size smaller. I have never experienced the painful "bra burn" like I do from every other bra I have tried (even after 26 miles!). I would highly recommend this!

  • I will have to try that one out! You can never have too many good sports bras.

Currently, I love my Under Armour Endure Sports bra - it's a front zip, so when I'm done running and all sweating, it's so much easier to get off... Plus, it's comfy, breathable, and holds me in place through my active workouts, while not smooshing me down or getting uniboob.

I'm also using the Moving Comfort Serena bra (got it from REI), which also does a good job.

I am just now hearing about Enell. I like the nicknames!!! I've dealt with the chaffing in the past also...so far my cw-x hasn't bothered me at all. Good luck with Moving Comort...you will have to let us know how it works!!

Thanks for the info about sizing on this bra...I hate when you get a bra using the recommended sizing chart and it ends up being too big or too small!

I totally agree about front zips and back clasps being so much easier to take off. Trying to pry a soaking wet "rubber band" over your head can be really frustrating!!!

  • Try the lululemon Ta-ta-Tamer which comes in actual bra sizing and not XS-S-M-L-XL.

  • Holy smokes, the Fiona by Moving Comfort. I had to force myself to splurge on it (it was $48.00 at my local running store) and I now have several and I cannot live without it! I do laundry when I they're all dirty--that's my laundry test.

  • moving comfort juno or fiona....love them....and the ta ta tamer by lululemon...will never buy a different sports bra than these two brands...ever. never has either ever let me down....literally!

  • I second the endorsement of the Enell -- the Everest of boob containment, IMO. Won't win any fashion prizes though; it's definitely a "mono" look. It hooks up the front: on longer runs I used to get chafing on right breast where hooks dug in, but a bit of surgical tape solved that problem. If you are "large" this is definitely one to consider. Many brands such as Freya don't go up to my size but the Enell does; in fact they will custom-make one for you if needed.

  • I really like the Victory Bra, made by Moving Comfort, at Title Nine. Great support and super-comfortable, at a surprisingly low price (I would, as Dan suggests, happily pay $60-70 for the right bra, but was pleased to find what works for me for $36!).

It's a little tricky to get it off, especially in the beginning. The first time I wore it, I didn't think I was ever going to be able to get it off, despite my contortions - and my husband was out of town so he couldn't help me. I had nightmarish visions of being stuck in it until he got home. Fortunately, it gets a little easier after a few wears (and yeah, I did get it off eventually).
