Settings for posting runs to Facebook

asked over 1 year ago | Report

Does anybody know how to set a filter so that when i post runs from dailymile.com to Facebook they don't broadcast to my whole friend list? i'm thinking i want to share my runs with other runners only and not bombard people who don't care.

  • I would think that anything you post on DM to go to Facebook would go to your entire friend list, just like updating your FB status would go to your entire friend list (unless there are specific people you have blocked from receiving your updates).

People put TONS of stuff on FB I don't care about (games, quizzes, etc.) and I just ignore it, unless it's really excessive, then I hide the updates. But if you're doing just a few workouts a week I don't think that's bombarding them. If they don't care about you doing something good for yourself then they're not your friends anyway. :)

Or you can just not have it linked to FB at all and have your runner friends join here!

  • Holly is right. It will go to every one just like a status update. If you are just entering a note in DM then click on the FB icon in DM and that will prevent it from posting to FB.

I would not worry about it tho for 2 reasons
    1. you will find out you got more support than you think on FB.
    2. If they are annoyed by it, then can block it themselves or they are really not a friend.

  • I resorted to manually posting. I copy the URL of the day's activity and post it as a link w/thumbnail on my wall. I made a custom list for runners and then just post it to my running friends.
