This year's St. Louis Half Marathon scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 1, will be the 30th episode of the longest running half-marathon in the St. Louis area. After a very successful union that benefited both events in November 2007 & 2008, the St. Louis Track Club’s Half-Marathon wil...l again be run in conjunction with the Clayton Police/Special Olympics 5K Run.
The course for the Half Marathon remains basically the same as the one used in the inaugural event in December 1980. The course begins and ends at the Clayton Community Center. It runs the three miles on Forsyth from Clayton to Forest Park and then through the streets of Forest Park for 3 1/2 miles to circle the Pagoda Circle in front of the Muny Opera and then retraces itself back to the Community Center.
In the past we have always had enough volunteers to make this one of the premiere events in the St. Louis area. We are looking forward to having those who are not running to volunteer and help keep our excellent reputation. As a member, remember to register before October 15 to receive your membership discount. Electronic timing will be used again this year and all Half Marathon finishers will receive a commemorative medal as they cross the finish line.
