wow, that was tough, slower than I would have liked but given my recent IT band issues I was glad to finish. got stopped by the lovely Am Track training, was not at all happy about that. much more up and down than they course map indicates, the weather was terrible, rained steady for the first 19 miles we were all soaked. I very glad I did the run, I'll rest and begin to train thru the winter for a

    Portland in the rain

I really liked this marathon. It was a nice course, and I was surprised at how many people were out cheering considering how crappy the weather was. The aid stations started early with good eats, which are a must for me. There were a couple of not-so-fun sections of the course, like where you run out & back along some train tracks, or running along the highway with semis blowing by you in the next lane, but overall it wasn't bad. Really cool finisher tees, although I could do without the first short sleeve t-shirt they gave out with all the coins/necklaces/saplings/roses/etc. I'd rather pay less for the race.

Wonderful place for a first timer!

Portland was my first 1/2 marathon and I loved every minute. The incline between miles 2 and 4 was challenging but not too bad. Great people watching and crowd support. Aid stations were plentiful. Packet pick-up was very well organized. City was super friendly. My only complaint was the shortage of restrooms at the start. Outside of that, I thought it was wonderful.

Hey Portland runners! Anyone else as excited as I am for this race? I know it's early, but I wanted to get a head start on setting up a meetup.

Looks like there's a strong showing of Dailymilers who are running the marathon - that's awesome!

I've been coordinating a group of folks headed into Portland from out of town. We're looking to rent a house near the finish line - let me know if you're interested in joining us!

Really looking forward to running with all of you!
