Little Rock Marathon
I ran the half marathon in 2009, and considering it was my very first running event of this kind, I would have to say it was awesome. I was living in LR at the time, so I did have to drive downtown, but the drive was only 20 minutes. There is plenty of free parking, but you will have to walk a few blocks. There are also plenty of hotels right in the area of the start/finish line. There was something called a "perks" tent that was about $20 that worth every penny. I would see if they offer it this year. This was an area sectioned off with its own bathrooms and bag drop-off that was manned by volunteers. There was also a buffet for the runners after the race and tables and chairs and portable heaters. You could even get free massages. There were plenty of cheering spectators, bands, choir groups, and cheerleaders along the course.

I don't recall the half marathon course filled with hills, but I hear the full is rather hilly. You get your huge medal (some people think its too big) at the finish and have the opportunity to get your picture taken. It was really a fun morning for me and my family. Honestly, because of this great experience, it makes me want to keep running. All the volunteers were helpful and extremely nice. The training program that is associated with the LR Marathon throughly prepared me for my first race. -
Little Rock's Marathon
*sigh* This was LONG. And...my Garmin stated 26.58 miles instead of the 26.2. It was super hilly, and I was prepared for the hills miles 13-16, but not for the ones at 24 & 25. Some walking was involved, 2 bathroom breaks, but I have GOT TO STOP taking pain pills because they just make me naseous during the race. Oh, and I need to figure out how to carry bread, pretzels or something similiar next time!
