Description:

The 2009 Rock 'n' Roll Marathon presents the same great course as last year. The 26.2 mile course begins in Balboa Park, runs through Hillcrest and skirts the San Diego Zoo. Runners take an expanded tour of downtown featuring Petco Park, the historic Gaslamp Quarter, and t...he San Diego Harbor. Following the downtown excursion, the course travels up beautiful Highway 163, and races by the bayside communities, Sea World and ends at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in Point Loma. read more

  Race Report

  This is the first time I've run this race, but I was not impressed with the finish logistics. Getting on a shuttle with 5,000 other people to go 1 1/2 miles to the trolley was ridiculous! Also didn't like the 5 miles of desert you had to run through on Fiesta Island at the very end of the race. Brutal! Other than those two things, the race was well run. Lots of aid stations and the course was pretty much wide open.

  My first full marathon!

  I had a blast! This was my very first marathon. I have no other full marathon to compare this one to so in my opinion it was AWESOME!
