Great Event
A really good event. This was my second ever tri with Lone Star being my first. It is hard to compete with Lone Star cause it is so big, but this was a great event in it's own right.
When I first got there is was a little hard to tell where everything was. But during the race they had plenty of people to tell you where to go so it was cool.
The swim looked really long from the starting position, but turned out fine. There was a LOT of kicking, clawing, and bumping during the first half of the swim, but I guess that comes with the territory. :D
The bike route was short and very fast. We had a small head wind going out and it was nice at our backs on the way in. No real hills to worry about.
The run was very well shaded and I was very thankful for that as the sun was coming out and I was getting really tired. Part of the run course was on uneven sidewalks and narrow paths, but did I mention that it was shaded? :D
Afterwards they had hot fresh pizza, and all kinds of snacks and drinks. No bands but they played some music and it was fun hanging out with friends in the shade. We even stayed for the awards ceremony.
The web site for the event was not updated for the event very well. In parts of it, it still had last years info which had changed for this year. Also when they calculated the results for the bike pace they used 12 miles instead of 11 so the paces were wrong, but the times were right.
Overall it was a really fun tri and I plan to do it again next year if it fits in the schedule.
