It was started after we lost our six brothers in the Worcester Cold Storage Fire back in December 3, 1999 and has evolved into Worcesters biggest community and family event. The proceeds from the event have changed since its conception; at first the race was formed to raise mo...ney for the permanent Memorial Fund being built in the memory of our fallen brothers. After the first year (in which all of the proceeds were donated to the Memorial Fund) we decided we had to give back to the community, our way of saying thank you for all the support that was given to us during the tragedy. Each year we pick different charities, all non profits and to date we have donated over $235,000. The 10th Memorial race charities are: Genesis Club, Connecticut Burn Foundation, Bottom Line, Community Harvest Project and Sherrys House. read more
