Run to the Pub - 2009
This review is for the half-marathon, not the 10k
Pros-
* Great weather
* Level course with just a few hills
* Price - $35 for race + tshirt + 317 mug + 1 beer
* Cool t-shirt designRoom for improvement-
* Maps of the race were not readily available.
* A decent pre-race packet pickup would have been nice.
* Bathrooms? ROFLMAO! Prior to the race, guys went behind the barn, gals went behind the haystacks.
* 2 of the 4 water stations were dry when I arrived at them. When I did get water, it was between 1-3 oz. seriously not enough.
* Had to run over cattle grates TWICE - very unsafe. http://tinyurl.com/caf5yv
* 95% road race but only 2 spots with traffic assistance.
* Had to stand in line immediately after the race for 20 minutes to pick up mug and shirt.
* They were OUT of shirts (WTF) when we got to the front of the line >:(
* NO post-race water
* NO post-race food
* Had to wait 20 more minutes to get the beer... no priority for runners.Don't get me wrong, it was an okay race, but I think it was the company I kept that made it for me. There are a few things I'll do differently if I run this in the future. Just to name a couple, I'll likely bring and carry my own water. I will not wait in line immediately afterwards, but walk around for a while until it diminishes. I might run the 10k instead of the half-marathon, which had less traffic issues, real port-a-johns at the start, and finished earlier (less wait in line).
This run has potential, I hope they take these improvements into consideration.
