Race Reports

  • Qualify for start corral if you can!

For such a large event, seems very well organized. A late Spring snowstorm did not seem to affect the course or event at all in 2009, although a lot of people stayed home.

If you have run a Chicago marathon or previous Shamrock Shuffle, you can qualify for a start corral. The open start has tens of thousands of runners which makes for a very crowded, slow start.

It's a great way to start the training season, though!

There were only 13,294 Finishers out of 30,500 registrants for the 8K race—the weather wiped out half of the attendees! More room on the course for us :)

Aaaand...it's now a beautiful, sunny day outside, the snow melting fast under the warm sun. The course was slushy in places but overall well organized and runnable. I didn't see anyone fall or have a problem with the snow...just some shivering at the start :(

Hope to see you next year!
