Nice Race!
I ran the Autism Ribbon Run this morning, and enjoyed the race. It started and finished near Moore Square in Raleigh, and ran through one of the historic districts in town. (The route included several neat old homes, including the North Carolina governor's mansion.) The sky was overcast with a light wind, and temps were in the low to mid-60s. The course was mostly downhill for the first half of the race, so we saw the flip side of some of those hills on the way back! While we didn't get splits along the way, there were big signs marking each mile, which was nice.
There wasn't a lot of non-race-affiliated crowd support along the way, but the volunteers were plentiful and great! There were also a number of vendors in Moore Square, both before and after the race.
The race supported the Austism Society of North Carolina, so there was an opportunity for fundraising, and I noticed a number of teams. It was nice to see the comraderie! There were a lot of walkers participating as well.
The biggest suggestion I have is for the powers that be to coordinate the website with the brochure. I checked the website yesterday and remembered that they were having packet pickup at the Athlete's Foot in Raleigh. I rushed there fast as I could from work in Durham, through the rain and traffic for a professional hockey game, only to find out that the website was wrong! They'd had packet pickup at the Athlete's Foot the night before, but were having pickup at Moore Square last night. The brochure had the correct info, but the website did not. *sigh* Not the end of the world, as they had packet pickup before the race. I usually like "taking care of business" ahead of time when I can, though.
