Proceeds go to the National Lung Cancer Partnership. Race morning includes 1 mile run/walk and 100 yard Kid's Dash (6 and under). 5K is part of Second Empire Grand Prix Series.

    Nice Fall Day for a 5K

    This morning's Free to Breathe 5K in Raleigh was the second one, but new to the Centennial Campus course.

    The race packet pickup seemed a little disorganized. I had to return to the table for safety pins when I figured out they weren't in the bag. Then I had to go back to find out where the chip pickup was, as it wasn't obvious to me, and no one mentioned it.

    Although rain came down within 30 minutes of race start, it cleared up to be a beautiful fall morning. The race course was a bit hilly, but all on asphalt, and well marked. There was one water stop about mid-way.

    This race was walker-friendly, and had a recreational division as well as a competitive one. There was plenty of food (including pizza, bagels, bananas, and cookies) and water after the race.
