Gr8 course but terribly managed race

The race down the strip for the half was great. Great course, great runners, great spectators. The scenery of course was awesome. The weather was a bit cold but overall worked out OK for the race.

This is my first Rock n' Roll series race and I have to say it was very disappointing. The shuttles that were planned to run people to the start line I heard were canceled early. People were left walking over a mile to get to the start line and running late. The pre-race party and band was lame. The bag check was disorganized.

The corral system was a mess (walkers in corral 2 should never happen. Ever.) The finish line for the 1/2 was so crowded I could barely cross over it. It was really cold at the end and they were stopping everyone individually for a photo before you could get into the warm building.

I still had a blast. The course alone drew me to run it but I'd think twice before signing up for another RnR race.

    HORRIBLY ORGANIZED!!!

I would NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER do this race again. The event was terrible. Course was overcrowded and seriously congested by folks not willing to abide by the simple race etiquette to stay to the right when walking, or jogging slowly. Poorly lit in areas, some of the water stations ran out of water, some people didn't get medals because they ran out, very poor signage to direct runners where to go, horrible post race finish area, couldn't get out of finish area because it was congested, it was FREEZING and hard to get to the space blankets, had a hard time finding a way to exit the race just to get back to hotel, the bands were few and far between. Part of the course was in the seedy underbelly of downtown Vegas, the streets were poorly lit and there were pot holes I almost twisted my ankle in because I couldn't see. Running the strip at night was fun, but definitely did not outweigh the misery that was the rest of the race. Next year they want to up the event from 44,000 to 63,000 which I can't even wrap my mind around how even more people will work. The streets on the course were too narrow at some places for the amount of people who were there and bottle necked because of it. I did the half but felt bad for the poor marathoners who couldn't even get through the walkers in the half. Marathon met the half at mile 14 and had to suffer the rest of the race with the half marathoners. There were mini cones every 1/4 of a mile designating a supposed marathon chute, but hardly anyone respected it as such. I would never do this race again and heavily discourage anyone who told me they were considering it.
