Race Reports

  • I still call it Al's Run

While the name and course has changed a number of times over the years this remains the oldest and probably the largest run in Wisconsin. I love that they have returned to starting the race on Wisconsin Ave. near 12th Street (across from Marquette and close to the Children's Hospital). This is what Al intended and makes for a fast and interesting start as a wave of 15K+ participants run through downtown Milwaukee. Helping to motivate, they had many music groups performing along the course. The scenery is beautiful as the course moves through the heart of the city, past the Art Museum, along Lake Shore Drive and finishes at the Summer Fest grounds. There is a party like atmosphere at the finish as they open up Brigg's Stage for more entertainment and food/refreshments. This race is a great Milwaukee tradition and well organized. I would highly recommend it.
