Rock 'n' Roll New Orleans 1/2 Marathon 03/04/12
We are finally home. What an awesome weekend it was! I missed a half marathon PR by 16 seconds but I am proud to say that I finished my half marathon feeling great, with no pain! and on only 6 weeks of training! I do have a new 5K and 10K PR which makes me very happy. I can't wait to see what the rest of the year has to bring for me. Thank you to everyone who took the time to cheer me on from afar. Your support means so much to me!

I think they got a little carried away this year
Having the full and half-marathoners running on the same one-lane of traffic was mistake #1 (last year, we split at mile 4). It made for a really crowded 12.5 miles, with lots of bobbing and weaving around slower runners who either lined up in the wrong corral or overestimated their speed. Mistake #2 was making it a bigger race. I think there were 7,000 more runners this year than last, again making it a really crowded race. That said, the water stations were well-stocked, the volunteers were excellent, the bands were great, and the course took us through some fantastic parts of town. The bling was awesome & the finish-line area was well-organized.
