    Night Trip

This was my first full marathon and that alone makes it memorable.

The first thing I realized after the first few steps was this course was definitely not flat. There's the on-ramp in Alabang, then the "hills" of Sucat, Bicutan, EDSA (ran up and down this monster twice) and that "cliff" leading from NAIA 3. Running through Sucat and Bicutan was easy but on the return leg (last 10KM) those "hills" looked like mountains.

In terms of facilities, there were a lot of hydration stations and a fair number of portalets. A few gripes however were that there were only 2 stations with isotonic drinks, there was only 1 station with bananas (the end doesn't count) and the event area was a LONG walk for any road weary marathon survivor.

The length of the course was lighted, except for this area approaching C5. If you looked up at that point, you would have seen stars twinkling right at the darkest part of night. It's the terrain and time of day that sets this marathon apart.
