    Race Cancelled

I was suppose to run this race in Austin; however, due to the weather the race was cancelled. I did not expect the organization to refund folks their money but I thought they would at least reschedule the race and give folks the opportunity to run another time. Unfortunately, we received an email from the organizers stating they will not refund us our money, nor will they reschedule the race. This is horrible. What's also bad is the night before the race, they sent an email stating we wouldn't get our medals because Fed EX had lost there boxes. So, this race started off pretty bad. I will not be supporting them in the future.

    Poorly Handled

Yes, the weather was bad. But I honestly feel that See Jane Run took the easy way out in cancelling the event - they were in over their heads, and calling off the race took care of a number of other issues - missing medals & champagne glasses, no need to distribute finishers t-shirts, champagne or chocolate. A convenient excuse to sidestep responsibility for the fiasco that was (or rather wasn't) See Jane Run. Let's look at this from the start. (1) Sign up with the Zozi code was an uphill battle, and the See Jane Run website didn't accept the registrations for several weeks after the initial purchase due to "technical issues". (2) Start time for the race changed a few days before the event from 8am to 7am. Ironically, an 8am start time would have likely been possible with the weather events of the day. (3) Race medals and champagne glasses lost in transit, FedEx employee named and shamed by SJR in a way that I found extremely tacky. SJR did know when the race was supposed to be, right? Perhaps ship a little earlier next time? (4) race t-shirts poor quality. Several of the women in my running group had torn seams on the left shoulder of their shirts. A bad batch, I suppose. (5) The advertised post-race venue The Belmont went out of business before the event. Oops. Not directly related to SJR perhaps, but just another layer of change and disappointment related to the event. (6) No reschedule, no refund. I don't think I'll bother with this event again. Meh.

Race Awful, Austin is Nice though.

This was the worst running event I've ever paid $80 to not run. I'm sorry this is the running event I picked to visit Austin for.

The night before the race, the organizers sent out an 'urgent!' message with personal contact info for a fedex employee and asked them to complain to him about lost packages with race medals.

The next morning, when there was clearly a storm on radar, I was unable to reach anyone with updates, nor were any posted anywhere. Race was to start 30 minutes before sunrise (is that odd? this was my first race starting in the dark), and racers were told to arrive at 6. Arrived and was informed by other racers race was cancelled.

Actual email update came later, along with informing people that there would be no refunds or rescheduled date. and "sorry for the inconvenience!" Was banned from SJR boards for suggesting they comp registrations for next years race for people who paid up to $100 for this one. They are now offering $30 off.

Sandy, I was registered and didn't get the email saying it was cancelled until after I was already in the car to leave; it arrived well after the 7 start time.

I purchased a half off deal on Facebook/Zozi and was bombarded for a special code just a few weeks ago because they needed it. I finally got the code and when I showed up at registration, I wasn't even on the roster. They handled it nicely but I was still disappointed. This seems like a novice organization. Since I wasn't registered, I never got any email saying it was cancelled. I showed up there this morning and found out on my own. The weather seemed to clear with a few hours so I wish they were "SMART" enough to see how it all played out. Not sure if I will ever look at running this series. So many others out there that have been doing it longer and better!
