The RAIN ride is a 160 one day bike ride across Indiana. Riders will climb around 4,000' but spreading that over 160 miles makes the climbing the least of the challenge. There are four food and water stops, one lunch stop and of course the finish. You can carry money and buy supplies along the way but most people meet up with their personal SAG's for supplies. This is a challenge of physical endurance and mental willpower. Riders must complete the ride in 14 hours, finish by 9pm, to be considered an official finisher. Some people do race this. Some try to better their best time. Some like me just enjoy finishing in the 12 to 13 hour range. The satisfaction of completing this ride is something you will be proud of for a long time.
The food stops are great. Just remember there are not very many of them. Traffic is seldom a concern with most of the ride on four lane US 40 which is not too busy. As far as spectators go, there are not any. But often the other rider's SAG support with cheer on riders as they pass. That really feels great.
