The inaugural running of the "Back to the Beach" Half Marathon and 5k, fundraiser for the Detroit chapter of Medals4Mettle, will take place on Sunday, May 22, 2011. The Half Marathon is a single 13.1 mile loop that starts and finishes at Eastwood Beach. Runners will find the c...ourse to be very scenic with a variety of running surfaces which include asphalt, runner friendly trail segments, dirt roads, boardwalks and city streets. 75% of the course is within Stony Creek Metropark. The 5K race is mostly on a scenic cross country trail, through the woods adjacent to Eastwood Beach and within Southdale Picnic Areas. read more
