Well Organised but a little boring
The course was a little boring with a run out and back with nothing to see but buildings. The event was well organized with good participation. The weather was very cold especially with the strong wind.
Every one seemed to be having fun thou it was disappointing to hear heckling from drunk idiots on the side of the course.

First race in 5+ years
I'd run this one again. Course is flat and not very scenic, but I can keep myself entertained for 5K. Couldn't stay for the post-race entertainment which was a bummer, as it was my first time meeting some fellow #nerts - I'll plan better next year.

Worcester, MA
The Celtic 5k is one of a 3 part 5k racing series that takes place in MA and RI. The race happened only a few hours before the Worcester St. Patty's Day parade so there was a TON of people out to offer support while they were setting up in their spots to watch the parade. Unfortunately the food carts were out there to and them smell of the Italian sausage stand at 1.5 miles was a little too much.
The course was simple enough, straight shot out and back. Other than the hairpin turn the course was flat and fast. And by fast I mean fast! I hit the 1st mile in 5:55 without even realizing it (and I was only in the top 50 at with that time) and then laid off the gas since I had a 17 mile training run scheduled for later in the day. Still a good run finishing in 19:55, 63nd out of 1426.
I hate that there's no commonality between races for awards. This race had top 3 Open Men/Women (age 39 and under), then Winner Men/Women (age 40-49), Winner Men/Women (age 50-59) and Winner Men/Women (age 60-69). I don't understand why everyone doesn't do top 1-3 male and female overall and then top 3 male and female in each age group. By the way, 39 and under isn't an age group, it 3 age groups: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39. I can't think its that much more expensive to recognize age groups and its not like the races are cheap. Speaking of cost, I will give huge kudos to them for what you did get for $27 entry fee. I got a very nice long sleeve "Celtic Themed" tech tee, a hat, chip timed racing numbers and everyone who raced got free entry into all the bars supporting St. Patty Day after the race. I'd highly recommend the race and look forward to running it next year.

Checking weather...

Sorry I missed the meet-up. Planned to go but had too much to do this afternoon. I hope to meet everyone at the next race. It was a boring course but it's worcester. I thought the race was pretty fun with everyone dressed up and the sweet savory smell of sausage and fried donuts as your raced. I would've liked to have beer tents at the finish but that's always a preference of mine. snaps on the pizza.
