    Review

I am not a "veteran runner" by any means, but I have run in a few events. For this being the first event of its kind I would say good job. Yes there were some kinks but I had a good time.
The packet pick up was at a location 15 miles away from the course itself. In my opinion it would have been nice to have it a one of the winerys.
Anyway, there were very little in the way of venders. I was kind of disappointed. I like walking around and seeing all of the different venders and what they have to offer.
Now for the race it self. I was not paying that much attention at first but when we were about to step off, 30 mins late by the way, I heard someone say "what, no National Anthem?" So on to the course. So I lined up in the 2:10 to 2 something coral. I was going for 2:15 so I am not sure what the second number was. Being that this was a relatively small event, less the 2000 runners, there was no crowding issues at all. I felt very comfortable the whole time even though some of the streets felt narrow. I would have liked to have the streets blocked of all traffic but most of the vehiles were respectible to the runners, except for one lady in a pick up truck just laying on the horn. I guess you can't please everyone. Some of the water stops were managed better then others. The Heed never seemed to be mixed well. One hard criticism about the water stops is that I thought that the cups were too small.
At the end of the race there was no water available outside of the finishing shoot and if we tried to go back in we were told no.
I do plan on doing this race again next year and I hope they don't change the course. Yes it was tough but I liked it.

Virginia Wine Country Half Marathon review

For the first year of this event, I thought it was organized fairly well and is only going to get better.

There are a few things that could be improved upon for the future: 1) Expo needs to be closer to the event 2) Expo should have more vendors 3) Have the National Anthem prior to start 4) Figure out the bus to start situation 5) Line up the mile markers better to everyone's Garmins 6) I would have like a wine glass or something similar on the shirts 7) They definitely needed a lot more water at the end, as that was something everyone was looking for

Things that were great: 1) Very nice, but tough course 2) Great medal & wine glass 3) Awesome wine festival, even though they needed more people helping to pour 4) Nice race shirt, but could be improved upon 5) Nice touch with the wine tasting at mile 10 6) I thought they handled the traffic very well even though I thought it would be a problem
