San Jose Rock and Roll Half Marathon
OK, this was incredibly slow for what I should be able to do in pretty good race conditions. So why do I feel good? Two reasons: first, I really struggled with my running this week - 4.5 and 6 mile runs were done with great difficulty. Before the race, I was worried that I would have to end up walking the last few miles. I didn't. While this may have been almost 13 minutes slower than my PR, I got through it. And that leads me to reason #2 why I'm OK with this race: I ran the race I deserved to run. I haven't put the miles in and I have been really bad with my diet. If I had a great race, it would feel like I was cheating. Instead, I rest assured that the universe works the way it should. It also lets me know what I need to do to remedy this situation.

The race itself was well-organized, the course was great and I had a lot of fun running with friends, meeting some new ones and getting to see people in person that I've only connected with virtually.
I registered for this next year's race - watch out, I will be gaining on you! -
