Review of the Oakland Marathon Relay 2010
FUN!!!!
by Joanna B.
This was a truly wonderful event. Families were standing outside of their homes cheering the whole way. The best cheering occured while running alongside the BART line and hearing very concerned small children ask me if I would feel better if they gave me candy. I felt better merely by their offer. :) -

Oakland Half Marathon!!!
I did it!! And I feel really beaten up today. I really loved all the support I got. The sights and sounds of Oakland made the run so enjoyable. I high fived a gorilla, was cheered on with gang signs by middle aged women in West Oakland and a stoned face burly motorcycle cop was blaring Lady Gaga along the route. I didn't think it was possible but I love Oakland even more. Thanks you family and loved ones for being there for me. The happiness I felt being around you guys really energized me.

Oakland Marathon
Nathan and I kicked it hard the first half--I felt great!--and then I ran out of gas 'round mile 15 with calf cramps. Struggled with the cramps the rest of the way, but ended up finishing with a 2-minute PR and a death wish that thankfully faded after seeing all yer lovely faces at the finish line.
Let's do it again next year!

Checking weather...

I agree that the crowds were fantastic! Oakland gets a lot of bad publicity, and I admit that I've been joking about dodging gunfire, but this proved that the stereotype isn't always true. The aid stations were great, the free parking was a nice consideration, and everyone was just so excited about this race.
