    Rails to Trails 5K

This was a very fun event (albeit in the middle of nowhere). I ran my first 5K since college, and my husband ran the marathon. The whole (tiny) town of Norwalk, WI seems to come out for this event, and the people are so friendly and welcoming! The 5K course was flat, gravel, and great for a beginner. You get to run through a tunnel, and that is fun. There were not very many runners in this race, which can be a good thing.

We went to the pasta dinner the night before, which was very sweet. All the older ladies in the town served up pasta, bread, lemonade, and home baked goods. The pasta wasn't great, but it was very Wisconsin, and reminded me of something my farm grandma might have made (i.e., lots of butter).

I think the shirts left something to be desired. The 5K shirt was cotton, which is ok for a 5K. It seemed like the marathon shirts were better in previous years where they were long sleeved instead of short. I got a bright lime green ribbon for the 5K, which I kind of love. Overall, we had a great time.
