    Fall Classic Half Marathon

Well, it was very cold! Must have been around -2/-3 deg Celsius this morning. I didn't mind the cold itself, but the icy patches, especially on the downhill sections, were sometimes a little unnerving. I did not see anyway fall, but I did slip a couple of times.

The half consists of 2 loops with about 5km down and 5km up on each loop. The first 5km (19:42) went pretty well, but I started struggling on the second 5km uphill part (20:28). Luckily I was able to run with another guy who pulled me through the middle section of the race. The following 5km were a little better (20:06), but then I had to start digging deep on the last 6km (getting very hard with the fourth 5km @ 20:58). Overall I am little disappointed with my time, but considering the weather conditions and the fact I missed a whole week of training 2 weeks ago I am think the final time is about right. I believe I came in 4rth in my age group and probably in the first 30 overall. The official results are not yet posted. I think I would do this run again as it is pretty well organized and everybody seemed to have a good time - just the time of year is a little hit or miss...

Now I will take it easy and scale down my running to 50km/week until January where I will start preparing for the BMO Marathon.
