    Wineglass Marathon 2010

It was a bit chilly and windy at times, but thats the only negative comments I have about the race. I wasnt sure how I was going to do but hoped to at least not be picked up by the street sweepers as my training had been hampered by a few niggles, but was looking forward to running in the area. Registration was easy enough, the expo didnt have enough stock though and a larger selection of winter finisher gear wouldve been appreciated. We ate at one of the restuarants offering a race special pasta buffet - great value and the food was really tasty. We stayed at the Hilton in Horseheads, was great accomodation, not too far from Bath and an easy drive in the morning. They also provided bagels, coffee and fruit in the morning, so this was great as we had to leave before official breakfast time. Lots of portaloos at the start, not too many announcements to listen to. Music wouldve been great to set the mood. There was an aid station almost at every 2 miles, so lots of fluids and gels available, also great because it made the race go a lot quicker. Food at the finish: lots of it and it was warm. Just sad there was no coffee - after all the sweet gatorade and gels, coffee is always necessary for me. Showers were offered at the YMCA which was wonderful before the drive home. So a great experiene. The medal is HUGE, but very pretty. The small bottle of champagne was lovely and the glass a great momento which at least I can use. Techy long sleeve teeshirt also very useful. Highly recommended.
