    the Publix GA Marathon

    Happy to run despite craziness (for reference when i look back on my races: we had the flu two nights/a morning before) at home.

    LOVED seeing so many friends on the course--totally the highlight to run through my own neighborhoods.

    I downed three gels throughout the course of the run (beginning, 10-mile, and 20-mile) and found those to be instrumental in the race (esp. considering my lack of food consumption the prior 2 days). Total convert to running with gels.

    Lots more to report but very thrilled with my result when i didn't even think i'd be toeing the starting line! yay!!!

    I've done the marathon once, and the 1/2 twice. It's one of the more challenging course I've done. It's hilly from beginning to end. I don't know how hilly Athens is, but you'll definitely want to do some hill training

    I have the same question as Marc. I've read it's hilly, but I'm from Athens, so what I really want to know is if it's in the same range of hilliness as here.
