  Rocket City Marathon

  First 10m 8:50, second 10m 8:45, last 10k .... i quit looking. Positives were the crowd, the course and race direction, having friends and family there and completing my seventh marathon. Now to get healed, get fitter and get busy.

  Rocket City Marathon - Huntsville, AL

  Chip time was 7+ min faster than ING in March, and my watch time was 5:05:18. My calves started cramping badly during last 2-2.5 miles, when temperatures dropped and rain started. Big improvement since my knees were shot for the last 6 miles of ING. Was not thrilled about "no headphones" rule - 5 hours is a bit long to be stuck with my own thoughts. Nice course, fantastic volunteers and enthusiastic spectators in many neighborhoods. You run next to traffic whole way, but local police do a great job stopping traffic for all the crossings. Would gladly run this next year, but will drive up Fri night - Up at 3:30 for the 3.5 hour drive. Marathon. 3.5 hour drive back home.
