Race Report
This is my first half and I thought things ran pretty smoothly.
The Good:
Aid stations were ample. The volunteers at those stations were great, even the kiddos. They shout what they have and shouted what's ahead (example: Gatorade here, Water up front.")The course was nice. It wasn't flat but it wasn't steep hills. It gives a certain challenge but not so daunting to put a damper. The spectators were great. They were everywhere, especially those at the bottom of the hill, cheering us on, and those at the top, telling us we overcame a hill.
There was pizza, lots of bananas and oranges, water, gatorade at the finish.
The medal was NICE. I have seen some chintzy ones, and this medal was classy, chic, thick and heavy. It made running 13 miles all so worth it.
The Bad:
I thought the 8 a.m. start was a little late. It gives me extra time in the morning to get really nervous. Is starting at 7 a.m. too early? The corrals at the starting line could use a more visible signs, though. I was confused and many others were confused too. I was weaving in and out of walkers at before Mile 1 was done.

Checking weather...

On average, the days in October can start off a little cool, around 45, but the temps can sometimes get into the low 70's later in the day.
There are a few hills on the route. The steepest are in miles 3, 9, and 12. Most of the route is made up of gently rolling hills with the exception of the three steep spots I mentioned.
Below is a link to the route. On the right side of the map is a check box to show elevation.

almost 2 years agoWhat's October weather like in Conway?
almost 2 years agoI also can't seem to find an elevation map of the course. Are there lots of hills? It will be my first half marathon, so I am trying to pick the "right" one.
